Joy Behar has admitted that *The View*'s backstage dynamic is not always easygoing.

The longtime cohost revealed what goes on behind the scenes of the ABC talk show, for which she sits on the panel alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.

On the latest edition of the talk show's companion podcast *Behind the Table*, Behar responded to a question from producer Brian Teta about a recent advice column he read that saw a woman inquire about workplace friendships and why they sometimes don't thrive outside the office.

"I think it varies. Some days, I love everybody. And some days I don't. It has to do with my mood more than anything else, I think," the 83-year-old assessed of her relationship with *The View* cohosts. "Like today, I loved my girls. I loved my girls at the table. Yeah. I even love you today."

She added that "some days I come in, and everybody is on my last nerve."

Behar told Teta that her seasonal allergies make her "more lovable" on set, because she gets "a little tired" and "hatred requires energy" to feel.

"I feel like you and I get along the best when we're fed up with everyone else," Teta said, with Behar revealing, "You come to my room sometimes you can't take any of the other ones."

She marveled at the fact that Teta feels comfortable with her "even though we have the most adversarial conversations," with Teta noting that Behar's office feels like "a little bit of a cocoon" protecting him from workplace drama.**

"I feel safe there. I also know you don't want anything from me. That might be what it is," he said. "When I'm in your office, I'm asking *you* for things. I'm asking you to do things or not do things!"

Behar has lightly sparred with her cohosts on the air in recent years, including in the months after the 2024 presidential election. Griffin, a Republican who previously worked for Donald Trump, snapped on Behar during a May 2025 broadcast that saw the stars debating how the president got re-elected: "We have Trump because you guys screwed this up!" Griffin said on the air.

The comedian and playwright also had a tense on-air relationship with former cohost Meghan McCain. In a infamous 2021 moment on the show, Behar told McCain during a live clash that she didn't miss her during the latter's maternity leave, which preceded McCain ultimately leaving the show months later.

"After the show, I went back to my office and I had a panic attack," McCain later said of the moment. "I couldn't stop crying, and I'm not always crying. I couldn't compose myself. I threw up in the garbage can. I was so overcome. This is my narrative — 'I come back from maternity leave and no one missed me.' I knew it was going to be everywhere. I was just so confused, because women when they have babies should be treated respectfully when they come back to work."

*The View *airs weekdays on ABC. Listen to the *Behind the Table* podcast above.
