Howie Mandel recently appeared on Live with Kelly and Mark and had a tense exchange with Kelly Ripa about a compliment on his looks and age. Following his appearance, the 70-year-old apologized to her for the way he responded via social media, stressing he was trying to joke and not be offensive. However, the comedian, who garnered backlash for his actions, has now expressed regret for apologizing.

Howie Mandel addresses his apology to Kelly Ripa

Mandel recently appeared on Hot Mics with Billy Bush and addressed the discourse surrounding his appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, during which he got agitated and awkwardly responded to Kelly Ripa after she commented that "it didn't make sense" he was 70 due to his healthy appearance — and subsequent apology video, where he briefly touched on their history together, on Instagram. In that interview, Ripa and her co-host and husband, Mark Consuelos, tried to assure him that they were only complimenting him by saying he looked good. Mandel remained stubborn for a few minutes before calming down and accepting the compliment.

The Canadian comedian said that he made a joke "that didn't land well." He added, "You know comedians always say, if you can make one person laugh, you're doing the job. But apparently that's not enough. It's not enough."

Howie Mandel said he did not know who got offended by his actions on Live with Kelly and Mark after Bush brought up a US Weekly story covering his apology video and asked who took offense.

"I don't believe in apologizing," he stated. The America's Got Talent judge expressed "regret" for making the video, reasoning he believed comedians shouldn't apologize for a joke.

Mandel later admitted he felt bad about the whole situation. Addressing the backlash, he said he didn't know what was happening or when the ordeal would end. "And I hope it ends soon because I didn't mean to cause any disruption," he clarified. "I didn't mean to embarrass anybody."
