AFL-CIO scraps Orlando presidential forum

TALLAHASSEE — The AFL-CIO at present canceled a Florida discussion board featuring Democratic presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden.

The occasion was scheduled for March 12 in Orlando, five days earlier than the state‘s presidential main by which 219 Democratic delegates might be up for grabs.

Carolyn Bobb, a spokeswoman for the AFL-CIO, stated that the forum was scrapped because of the “ongoing coronavirus outbreak.”

The state on Friday reported two deaths from the virus.

Florida looms as a possible make-or-break second for Biden and Sanders. The previous vice chairman is seen because the front-runner in the state, a status he cemented after former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg dropped out of the race Wednesday. Hillary Clinton bested Sanders by 30 points in the Florida Democratic main four years in the past.

Current polls have proven Biden with a lead within the state, and a line of Florida elected Democrats have thrown their help to the former vice chairman in the previous few days.

The Florida AFL-CIO claims greater than 1 million union members, retirees, and their families in the state. Their ranks embrace state staff, academics, firefighters, maintenance staff, and numerous trades.
