
The Republican chairmen of two Senate committees are urging the FBI and Justice Department to offer extra details about Alexandra Chalupa, a former advisor for the Democratic Nationwide Committee who has come underneath GOP scrutiny amid the impeachment inquiry.
In a letter despatched Friday to Lawyer Basic William Barr and FBI Director Christopher Wray, Republican Sens. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Chuck Grassley of Iowa cited a 2017 POLITICO report that Chalupa met with Ukrainian officials to discuss ties between Russia and President Donald Trump and his campaign chairman, Paul Manafort.
The senators additionally noted separate information stories that Chalupa spoke with the FBI after her e mail was hacked during her time at the DNC.
“If this reporting is accurate, it seems that the DOJ and FBI have in their possession materials related to our Committees’ ongoing investigation into collusive actions Chalupa and the DNC took to make use of overseas government sources to undermine the Trump marketing campaign through the 2016 election,” Johnson and Grassley wrote.
