LaMonte McLemore, the founder of pop-soul group The 5th Dimension, has died. He was 90.

McLemore died Tuesday, Feb. 3, at his home in Las Vegas, surrounded by his wife of 30 years and family, his agency, 2911 Media, confirmed. LaMonte died from natural causes following a stroke suffered several years ago, his reps said.

As one of five vocalists for the aptly named 5th Dimension, McLemore was instrumental in the rise of psychedelic pop in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The group, known for its genre-blending and mass appeal, was known for hits like "Up, Up and Away" and "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In."

The 5th Dimension recall the unusual way 'Aquarius / Let the Sunshine In' came together

The group won the coveted record of the year Grammy award twice, first in 1968 then in 1970, and they nabbed a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1991.

Born in 1935, in St. Louis, Missouri, McLemore served in the United States Navy, where he worked as an aerial photographer; he would later draw on in his work as a celebrity and sports photographer. He went on to pursue baseball briefly before turning to music after a move to Southern California.

There's officially presidential blood in *The View* family.

Cohost Sara Haines broke down in tears upon discovering that she's related to two United States presidents, with the reveal coming amid *Finding Your Roots* host Henry Louis Gates Jr.'s Thursday morning visit to the Hot Topics table.

After giving *The View* cohosts a quick history on another one of Haines' relatives, a German man who abandoned a woman he impregnated in the 1700s, the show cued up a clip from Haines' full *Finding Your Roots* episode that revealed Haines' shocking genealogical ties to one of the Founding Fathers.

"Do you know who that is?" Gates Jr. asks Haines in the footage, while he shows her a portrait of John Adams. "He looks like a lot of people in my history book," Haines replies.

Upon realizing that it's the second president, Gates Jr. informs her, "He is your third cousin, nine times removed!"

The 48-year-old throws her head back and laughs, eventually resting her face in her hands before looking up with tears streaming down her face.

"Oh my God. I'm related to a president!" Haines says, laughing and crying at the same time. "And he was a good one!"

Back at the Hot Topics table, Gates Jr. then exclaims that Haines is therefore, "related not to one president, but to two presidents," as Adams' son, John Quincy Adams, later became the sixth president in 1825,.

"We only had one other guest in the history of the series who was related to a president, unhappily so, and that was Michael Moore, who was related to Herbert Hoover," Gates Jr. recalled. "You are our first guest happily related to two United States presidents!"**

Gates Jr. traced Haines' relationship to the Adams presidents through her maternal grandfather, who was born in Kansas, whose mother was related to Henry Adams, Haines' 11th great-grandfather who was born in England and later settled in Massachusetts.

Nearly all of *The View *cohosts have appeared on* Finding Your Roots* — except for Alyssa Farah Griffin, whom Gates Jr. formally invited to be on a future episode while he sat at the table. Earlier, Gates Jr. uncovered a troubling bit of history for panelist Sunny Hostin, who learned on the show in 2024 that her ancestors owned slaves.

On the episode, Hostin learned that, in addition to her Puerto Rican ancestry, she also had Spanish lineage in her blood, and that her fourth great-grandfather was a merchant "who was likely involved in the slave trade" in 1800s Spain, and "owned at least one human being," the host told her at the time.

*The View* airs weekdays on ABC.* Finding Your Roots* airs Tuesdays on PBS.

Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., is ramping up pressure on those who were communicating with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Speaking on the House floor, Khanna said individuals who exchanged emails with Epstein should be required to appear before the House Oversight Committee.

"They need to answer some basic questions," Khanna said. "Who raped these underage girls from working-class families? What did they see? What did they know? What did they participate in? The American people are frustrated with the rich and powerful getting a different set of justice."

RELATED STORY | 'Let's stop the games': Hillary Clinton calls for testimony in Epstein probe to be public

Khanna is a co-author of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which requires the Justice Department to release all federal investigative materials related to Epstein. Millions of documents have been released since the law was signed in late 2025.

The records show that a number of influential figures had contact with Epstein, including President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. Association with Epstein is not a crime, and Trump, Clinton and Gates have all said they were unaware of Epstein's criminal conduct and deny any wrongdoing.

The documents also include communications involving other prominent figures, such as Elon Musk and Steve Bannon. None of the individuals named in the released materials have been charged or accused of crimes related to Epstein, and several have publicly denied any misconduct.

RELATED STORY | DOJ releases millions of Epstein records, many lacking context or corroboration

Khanna said he remains concerned about communications that remain partially redacted by the Justice Department. Some emails suggest Epstein offered to connect men with women, though it is unclear whether the recipients knew that some of the women Epstein trafficked were underage.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act states that records should not be withheld or redacted "on the basis of embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity." Khanna and supporters argue that numerous redactions remain without the explanations required under the law.

Khanna and Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., have requested a meeting with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche to discuss the redactions. It is unclear whether Blanche has agreed to the meeting.

Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin give update on Savannah Guthrie's search for her mom on The TODAY Show

Savannah Guthrie's *Today* family is sharing their love and support amid the ongoing investigation into her mother's disappearance.

During Thursday's episode of the morning show, Guthrie's co-anchors Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones shared the latest updates on the case of Nancy Guthrie's possible abduction and took the opportunity to urge viewers in a call for "collective action," requesting that anyone with any information call it into the tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

"It was great seeing that kind of outpouring of love and support and prayer from people not just there in Tucson, but here in New York," Melvin said, highlighting the various candlelight vigils held in Nancy's honor. "And, you know, folks have been coming up over the last few days, just random folks off the streets."

The support from their *Today* community and fans is particularly poignant for Jones, who was recently the subject of that comfort after her husband, Uche Ojeh, died from an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma.

"It's almost hard to explain it but when there's collective prayer or thoughts, or whatever you do, it's almost like it carries you," the mother of three said. "And you feel supported and we feel like if you can't do it yourself, people will carry you."

That is how the *Today* show is lending their support to the Guthrie family, Jones shared. "We're wrapping our arms around their entire family and we're carrying them," she added.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen Saturday, when her children left her at her home in Tucson, Ariz. Both her three children and the Pima County Sheriff's Department have been searching for her since Sunday morning, when a church friend of Nancy's noticed she didn't attend service as usual and alerted the loved ones, who then searched themselves and contacted authorities.

In an emotional video shared to Guthrie's Instagram page on Wednesday, the journalist, along with her brother, Camron, and her sister, Annie, spoke directly to both their mother and to anyone responsible for her disappearance, pleading that they reach out to confirm that Nancy is still alive.

"Our mom is our heart and our home. She's 84 years old. Her health, her heart is fragile. She lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive. She needs it not to suffer," the *Today* anchor said in the clip. "We, too, have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive and that you have her."

She added, "We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us."

Guthrie shared a message to Nancy directly, saying: "Mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. You are God's precious daughter, Nancy. We believe and know that, even in this valley, he is with you. Everyone is looking for you, mommy. Everywhere. We will not rest. Your children will not rest until we are together again. We speak to you every moment, and we pray without ceasing. And we rejoice in advance for the day that we hold you in our arms again."

Camron reminded his mother to "stay strong."

The Pima County Sheriff's Department will hold a press conference on Thursday, 1 p.m. ET, to share updates on the investigation into Nancy's disappearance. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pima County Sheriff's Department at 520-351-4900.

Grab all the garlic and holy water you can find, because vampires are about to be on the loose in New York City. And not just any vampires, but singing vampires!

A musical stage adaptation of the 1987 cult classic vampire film The Lost Boys will be making its anticipated Broadway debut this spring. BUT FEAR NOT! Because we have your exclusive first look at these creatures of the night that will start roaming the Palace Theatre when performances begin on March 27 (with an opening night set for April 26).

These unfortunate souls may not be able to see themselves in a mirror, but you can see them just fine right here! The photo above reveals Ali Louis Bourzgui as lead vamp David (playing the role that a bleached mullet-sporting Kiefer Sutherland made famous almost 40 years ago). Also on the scene are Maria Wirries as fellow bloodsucker Star (taking on the part from 1980s icon Jami Gertz) as well as LJ Benet in the role of soon-to-be-turned Michael Emerson (originally held down by Jason Patric).

The two other photos below show a suspicious Michael eyeing a very shirtless David, as well as an intimate moment between Michael and Star.

"It's not every day that a movie is so impactful and meaningful that it gets to have a new life almost 40 years later!" Wirries tells Entertainment Weekly. "The Lost Boys is that kind of movie, and I am beyond excited to be a piece of bringing its message and its magic to Broadway! It's fun to be a vampire!"

Her costar Benet tells EW that, "No one's ready for what we're about to do at the Palace. From the book, to the music, to the special effects and the stunts, this production is something I feel audiences have been craving for a while. For me personally, all the stars aligned for me to even be here. I've just been feeling an immense amount of gratitude to be a part of something so special that truly is history in the making. I'm on cloud 9."

As for the actor playing bad boy vampire David, Bourzgui is feeling like everything has come full circle. "Lately it feels like the vibes of the '80s are back in full swing," he tells EW. "The hair, the clothes, the music, the media; our culture is re-embracing this period of self-expression and rebellion of the status quo. The Lost Boys was a part of the movement of stories about young people who banded together to take on the bad guys when the adults just couldn't seem to be bothered. It was about chosen family and breaking cycles of abuse."

Of course, that's not all it was about.

"It was also pretty damn fun," notes Bourzgui. "I'm so excited how this musical version honors all of the iconic moments of the film, while diving deeper into each character. It's a perfect combo of sexy vampire glam rock with a heart-centered story about family and rising above oppression. Oh, and me and the other 'Lost Boys' will be playing our songs live on stage, so your ticket is two for the price of one — a musical and a live rock concert."

Seeing as how Bourzgui recently starred in the title role for the recent revival of The Who's Tommy, he knows a little something about rock concerts on Broadway. And now you have your first look at the next one.

The trio will be starring in the new musical alongside Grammy winner and two-time Tony award nominee Shoshana Bean as Lucy Emerson, Benjamin Pajak as Sam Emerson, Paul Alexander Nolan as Max, Jennifer Duka as Alan Frog, Miguel Gil as Edgar Frog, Brian Flores as Marko, Sean Grandillo as Dwayne, and Dean Maupin as Paul. Plus, check out a press day performance from the show above.

Kristin Cabot, better known as the human resources executive involved in last year's Coldplay kiss cam scandal, is "reclaiming her story" at a public relations conference in April where tickets start at $875 per person.

Cabot will headline the panel, "Taking back the narrative," at the PRWeek Crisis Comms Conference in Washington, D.C., on April 16.

"While attending a Coldplay concert in July and unwittingly appearing on the kiss-cam for a few seconds, Kristin Cabot's life blew up in an instant," her keynote presentation description reads. "From the outside, it was an amusing, if unflattering meme; but for her, everything changed that day. Cabot experienced firsthand the extremity of public shaming that women have long experienced when in the negative spotlight of the media, one their male counterparts often seem to avoid."

Cabot will be joined on the 35-minute panel by journalist and communications professional Dini von Mueffling and PRWeek Senior Reporter Jess Ruderman. The three will discuss "the strategy – both immediate and long-term – that has helped Cabot take control of her narrative and rewrite her story."

Breaking her silence: Exec from viral Coldplay kiss cam video speaks out for first time

Who is Kristin Cabot?

Thrust into the national spotlight last summer, Cabot is the former head of human relations at the tech company Astronomer.

During a Coldplay concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in July 2025, Cabot was spotted in an embrace with the company's CEO Andy Byron. When the two saw themselves appear on the Jumbotron screen, they ducked out of its view, drawing a now viral comment from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin: "Uh oh, what? Either they're having an affair, or they're just very shy."

Caught on camera: Uncomfortable moment at Coldplay concert goes viral

What followed were countless memes, mentions on late-night talk shows and later comments from Martin, too. Both Cabot and Byron resigned from Astronomer not long after the concert.

In December 2025, Cabot broke her months-long public silence, speaking to The New York Times about the concert and her relationship with Bryon. She told the publication she was separated from her husband at the time of the concert and the public event was the first time her and Byron had ever crossed into anything romantic.

What is the PRWeek Crisis Comms Conference?

Hosted by trade publication PRWeek, the annual Crisis Comms Conference, now in its fourth year, aims to "convene communicators in our nation's capital to equip them with the tactics necessary to pivot at a moment's notice for unexpected occurrences," according to the event website.

The one-day conference is held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. on April 16. Standard individual tickets are $875, group tickets for three to five attendees are $775 each and non-profit tickets are $750.

Other keynote speakers include The Trevor Project CEO Kevin Wong, Blackbird.AI CEO and co-founder Wasim Khaled and Airlines for America Vice President of Communications Marli Collier. A full agenda of the conference is available online.

President Trump said he is directing all federal law enforcement to be at the disposal of Savannah Guthrie's family as the search continues for her mother, 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie.

"I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family's, and Local Law Enforcement's, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY," Mr. Trump said on social media Wednesday night. "We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely."

A White House official said the president called Savannah Guthrie, who co-hosts NBC's "Today" show. The call took place right after NBC interviewed the president on Wednesday, NBC said on its streaming platform.

Authorities are trying to figure out what happened to Nancy Guthrie, who went missing over the weekend. In an emotional video released Wednesday night, Savannah Guthrie pleaded for her mother's return and addressed any possible abductor or abductors, saying, "We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us."

Authorities believe Nancy Guthrie was taken from her Tucson, Arizona, home, but say they haven't identified any suspects or persons of interest in the case, and it isn't clear how many people may have taken Guthrie.

Savannah Guthrie said she and her family are aware of reports of a ransom note. Multiple media organizations have reported receiving purported ransom notes, which they gave to investigators.

"We live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her," Savannah Guthrie said in the video posted on social media.

Law enforcement is intensifying their search. Pima County sheriffs and the FBI returned to Nancy Guthrie's home Wednesday evening, putting up crime scene tape and combing through the property.

Former FBI agent Katherine Schweit — who worked on a similar case where an elderly woman in Wisconsin was kidnapped, held for ransom and eventually freed after five days — said "everybody is working as frantically as they can." "There are hundreds of people working on this," she said Thursday on "CBS Mornings."

According to Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin, U.S. Border Patrol's specialized search and rescue unit BORSTAR has provided support to Pima County officials handling the search.

The community in Tucson is holding on to hope. A few hundred people gathered at a church Wednesday evening for a vigil for Nancy Guthrie, hearing prayers and placing candles on an altar.
