In a Feb. 4 video, the content creator shared an old voicemail from her late husband Tanner Martin, who died following a five-year cancer journey in June

Shay Martin is offering up some advice.In a Feb. 4 Instagram video, the content creator and mom shared a sweet voicemail from her late husband Tanner Martin, who died in June 2025, following a five-year cancer journey that he documented extensively online.In her video, Martin sits in her car, tearing up as the sound over the video plays an old voicemail from Tanner."PSA to SAVE YOUR VOICEMAILS!!" Shay wrote in the caption of her video. "Seriously go do it right now.""Hey, cutie. I just want to call and let you know that I love you so much, and that I hope you know that I would do anything for you," Tanner can be heard saying in the recording.

"Even if you're not feeling good, I mean? If it's not my fault, you know? I just want to help you. I want to help you feel good," he said."And I know I can't, like, fix all the problems," he continued. "But I can still be there for you and bring you cinnamon bears, but I do love you a lot. And seriously, please, please, please be nice to yourself and let me know what I can do for you, OK? I love you, guys."As the voicemail played, a montage of videos of Tanner and Shay together flashed across the screen. Clips of them together in the hospital, while on vacation and just hanging out all showed.
"I would give anything to have a message like this!!!❤️ I wish I had saved all my voicemails," wrote one commenter."I have been [hoarding] voicemails from love ones for so long like long before I have lost them as just in case 😢❤️," another wrote.In the years leading up to his death, Tanner began documenting his colorectal cancer diagnosis at age 25 in November 2020.The news of his death was revealed in an Instagram post published on June 25, 2025, featuring Tanner speaking directly to the camera in a pre-recorded video.

"Hey, it's me, Tanner, if you're watching this, I am dead," he began.
"I had a heck of a life. I decided to make this video announcing my death because I saw someone did that, like, a year or so ago, and I think it's a good opportunity to get all your thoughts out," he explained.
Before he died, the couple built up a loyal and loving community across their social media. On Instagram and TikTok today, the couple's accounts still boast over a million followers.Online, throughout Tanner's diagnosis, they posted videos with health updates, in addition to baby updates, since they announced in November 2024 that they were expecting.
The news of Tanner's death also came 41 days after he welcomed his first child, AmyLou, with Shay.
