The city of Troy might've fallen after the Trojan War, but EGOT-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg is standing up against Elon Musk over his problematic criticism of Lupita Nyong'o's casting in Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic *The Odyssey*.

Goldberg took aim at Musk on Tuesday's *The View*, days after the billionaire slammed Nyong'o's speculated role in the star-studded production.

"Chris Nolan has lost his integrity," Musk wrote Saturday on X, in response to other users' criticism of unconfirmed rumors that the Oscar-winning *12 Years a Slave* actress will portray Helen of Troy — including one commenter who called the supposed casting "absolutely disgusting."

Goldberg voiced firm condemnation of Musk's words from her post at the Hot Topics table, suggesting that Musk's words mean that he's ugly on the inside and out.

"Ooh, you know, because Homer described this fictional character as fair-skinned, blonde, who was so beautiful that men started a war over her," Goldberg said, pointing out the difference in features between that description and Nyong'o's features.

She continued, "I don't know if you realize this, Lupita is also considered one of the world's most beautiful women. So, I'm not sure what you're trying to say. You don't actually have to go to the movie. See, I don't know why you feel the need to speak on this. I would suggest looking in a mirror if you have any concerns about people's looks, if this is where we're going."**

Goldberg then got ahead of any criticism Musk might want to lob back at her.

"And don't bother to try to clown me, baby, I know what I look like," the 70-year-old *Ghost* and *Sister Act* star said. "There are so many things I want to say to you that are rude and awful, but I won't do it, but know that I'm thinking it."

Panelist Sunny Hostin also weighed in on the controversy, stressing that "there are sirens and fictional characters" in *The Odyssey*'s source material, and that "anyone can portray a fictional character and that beauty in and of itself is subjective — there's no standard of beauty."

"It doesn't have to be a white person that plays this part. We have to call a thing a thing when talking about Elon Musk. He has trafficked in white supremacy on the internet," Hostin alleged, before bringing up numerous past quotes that she said exemplified that Musk is "a white supremacist, in my view, he is a racist, and I think we call a thing a thing."

Cohost Sara Haines added, "Maybe no one should tell him that Jesus is Middle Eastern," she quipped, before suggesting that, "He's got bigger fish to fry than characters in a movie."

Nolan's first film since the Oscar-winning *Oppenheimer*, *The Odyssey, *out July 17, is one of the most anticipated movies of 2026, boasting an all-star cast and crew of Oscar-winning talent in front of and behind the camera.
