Another prime progressive group is throwing its weight behind Bernie Sanders.
Justice Democrats, the left-wing organization that recruited Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to run for Congress in 2018, informed POLITICO it is endorsing the Vermont senator Sunday.
“He has the vision to unite and govern America on this time of crisis,” stated Alexandra Rojas, government director of Justice Democrats. “There isn't a question that if Bernie Sanders had not run for president in 2016, organizations like Justice Democrats would not exist. Over the previous 4 years, he has galvanized a movement that made Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, free public school, ending mass incarceration and deportation, confronting skyrocketing inequality, and rejecting corporate cash into mainstream positions within the Democratic Celebration.”
In the months leading up to the primary presidential primaries, Sanders consolidated the help of many progressive elected officials and teams. However Justice Democrats, a corporation based by former Sanders aides, was an exception. As an alternative of backing Sanders or the opposite progressive standard-bearer in the race, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, it stated constructive issues about them both.
Justice Democrats' endorsement comes days after Warren dropped out of the race.
