Pence staffer tests positive for coronavirus


A staffer in Vice President Mike Pence’s office has tested constructive for coronavirus, Pence’s spokeswoman announced on Friday.

“This evening we have been notified that a member of the Workplace of the Vice President examined constructive for the Coronavirus,” Katie Miller, Pence’s press secretary, stated in a press release. “Neither President Trump nor Vice President Pence had close contact with the individual. Further contact tracing is being carried out in accordance with CDC tips.”

The staffer was not instantly recognized on Friday evening. Pence has not been examined for the virus, and his office stated there have been no plans to check the vice chairman right now.

The staffer provides to the rising listing of White House and congressional personnel who have examined constructive for the virus because the international outbreak reached heightened levels in the U.S. President Donald Trump tested damaging for the virus, his physician announced last Friday. Pence stated earlier this week that he had not been examined.

Several members of Congress have closed their Washington workplaces or gone into self-quarantine following constructive diagnoses of the virus amongst employees members. Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) and Ben McAdams (D-Utah) have been the primary two members to check constructive, on Wednesday.
