Former First Woman Michelle Obama joined actresses Laverne Cox and Viola Davis and others in rallying online help to reassure a young woman who went viral after saying she felt “ugly.”
“Ariyonna, you're beautiful,” Obama, 56, posted on Instagram where she shared a video displaying the woman saying, “I’m so ugly” and crying in the arms of Atlanta-based hairstylist Shabria (who goes by Lil Wave Daddy on Instagram).
Obama continued: “In a world that typically tries to say in any other case, I need to inform you—and every other lovely, intelligent, courageous black woman—simply how valuable you're.”
Within the video, Shabria instantly tells the woman “don’t say that!” and reassures Ariyonna, who is reportedly 4 years old, that she is “so fairly.”
“You've gotten this lovely chocolate skin,” the stylist tells the younger woman, hugging her as she cries. “You're simply so beautiful.”
The trade was posted on Instagram on Thursday with the caption, “We Should UPLIFT Our Queens.”
“It broke my heart into pieces as a result of she has the best power and probably the most lovely smile and coronary heart,” the stylist wrote. “She comes from a fantastic house and loving mother. I simply assume when youngsters go to high school they study and decide up sooo much various things that they don’t know the definition but they know the feeling.”

Cox and Davis joined Obama in uplifting Ariyonna and calling for followers to be constructive towards themselves and others.
“We are preventing tons of of years of brutal conditioning of being thought-about lower than,” Davis wrote on Instagram on Sunday. “It's sprinkled in our language, conduct, legal guidelines, music…and so on.. and trickles right down to our youth.
