
Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart spoke out Saturday about his battle with COVID-19 after testing constructive for the coronavirus, saying he believes the “worst half" has handed.
“It’s a difficult bug because just once I thought I used to be over it or I used to be fairly near getting over it, the fever will come back,” the Florida Republican stated throughout his first on-camera interview on NBC's "Nightly News."
Diaz-Belart, 58, recalled the signs he stated “hit him like a ton of bricks” last Saturday after he voted on a coronavirus response bill on the Home flooring, describing a headache that shortly developed into a fever and cough.
“Now luckily, I have not had a problem respiration so I’ve never had a scary second but clearly very, very unpleasant with headaches, with coughing, and with a reasonably intense fever — all coming at the similar time it seems,” he recounted.
Rep. Ben McAdams, 45, the second congressman who has tested constructive for the coronavirus, detailed an analogous expertise.
“I’m feeling about as sick as I’ve been,” the Utah Democrat stated during a CNN interview on Friday. “I acquired really labored respiration. I really feel like I've a belt round my chest, really tight. Once I cough, my muscle tissues are so sore so I just really feel ache each time I cough, which is ceaselessly. I really feel in need of breath, and I've a fever of about 102. So, it’s pretty dangerous.”
Diaz-Balart stated he has continued together with his work while self-quarantining in Washington, D.C., however stated there are constitutional questions that must be answered before allowing fellow lawmakers to vote from residence.
“I do know that the leadership, House and Senate — bipartisan — they're taking a look at ways to make it possible for they hold individuals protected and permit Congress to proceed, so we just acquired to ensure it's carried out right and it is accomplished safely, but in addition that it is carried out constitutionally,” Diaz-Balart stated.
As of Saturday night, there have been more than 25,000 confirmed instances of coronavirus and 307 deaths in the U.S., in accordance with Johns Hopkins College of Drugs’s database.
