Illinois governor: ‘Federal government needs to get its s@#t together’

Illinois’ governor complained late Saturday that new travel restrictions in place because of the coronavirus pandemic have led to an unimaginable state of affairs at Chicago’s largest airport.

“The crowds & strains O’Hare are unacceptable & need to be addressed instantly,“ Gov. J.B. Pritzker tweeted Saturday.

He added: “The federal government needs to get its s@#t together. NOW.“

Enhanced screening for returning vacationers from Europe is creating large logjams at U.S. airports, with vacationers waiting hours in long strains to get their baggage and clear customs.

“To the annoyed individuals making an attempt to get residence, I've spoken with the mayor and our Senators and we're working together to get the federal authorities to act to unravel this. We'll do every thing inside our energy to get aid,” the governor tweeted.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot echoed Pritzker’s criticisms on Twitter: “This is unacceptable. The reactionary, poorly deliberate travel ban has left hundreds of travelers at ORD pressured into even larger health danger. @realdonaldtrump and @CBP: nobody has time for your incompetence. Absolutely employees our airport proper now, and stop putting People in peril.“
