In a tweet saying his choice, he added: “It’s with profound gratitude to all of our supporters that I suspend my campaign for president right now. I’m so pleased with every part we’ve completed collectively. I’m going to keep preventing for an America the place everybody counts—I hope you’ll be a part of me in that battle.”

Castro ending his bid leaves the Democratic main subject with no Latino candidate, and his exit comes one month before the Iowa caucuses.
