President Donald Trump on Saturday stated he plans to launch a transcript of a second telephone name with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday, one that occurred months earlier than the July name that kickstarted House Democrats' impeachment inquiry.
"They need to have a transcript of the opposite name, the second call, and I am prepared to offer that. We'll in all probability give it on Tuesday, Monday being a vacation," Trump informed reporters at Joint Base Andrews earlier than boarding Air Drive One to attend a university soccer recreation in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
"We now have another transcript coming out that is essential. They ask for it, and I gladly give it," Trump continued.
That call occurred on April 12, shortly after Zelensky gained the Ukrainian presidency and was congratulatory in nature, in response to Kurt Volker, the previous special envoy for Ukraine negotiations whose personal depositions have been released Tuesday.
Little else is understood concerning the first call as an official White Home readout was not released. Trump has stated he dislikes releasing transcripts of calls with overseas leaders because "it’s such a nasty precedent.”
The president’s July call with Zelensky led to the whistleblower grievance that prompted Democratic lawmakers to launch their impeachment probe.
Trump additionally stated Saturday he does not care whether or not subsequent week's impeachment proceedings are public or personal, seemingly contradicting his statement on Friday that there must be no public hearings.
"I don’t care if public — they need to be public. What I stated it was misreported as regular. What I stated could be very simple. There should not be something. There shouldn't be impeachment hearings," Trump stated.
