Netflix announced Friday that its highly anticipated sequel series A Different World will premiere on Sept. 24

The revival series, which boasts the same name as the original, premieres exactly 39 years after the original NBC comedy made its debut.

The series will follow Deborah Wayne (Maleah Joi Moon), the youngest daughter of Hillman College's finest, Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert (played by Kadeem Hardison and Jasmine Guy on the original series).

Class is back in session at Hillman College this fall.

Netflix announced Friday that its highly anticipated sequel series A Different World, that boasts the same name as the original, will premiere on Sept. 24 — exactly 39 years after the original NBC comedy made its debut.

The series will serve as a continuation to the iconic '90s sitcom that began as a Cosby Show spinoff series in 1987, set at the same fictional HBCU and center on Tony winner Maleah Joi Moon (Hell's Kitchen) as Deborah Wayne, the youngest daughter of Hillman College's finest, Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert (played by Kadeem Hardison and Jasmine Guy on the original series).

The simple teaser features Moon sitting at a classic school desk and wearing a red-and-white Hillman varsity jacket draped over a white shirt as she hums the beginning notes of the original series' theme song. In another nod to the beloved series, Moon sports a pair of flip-up glasses, just like the pair her onscreen dad made famous in the OG series.

The official synopsis of the series shares that Deborah is Whitley and Dwayne's lovingly sheltered youngest daughter, a free spirit with a flair for the spotlight with a big heart who's still figuring out her own path at Hillman. She heads to Hillman College with a new generation of students stepping onto campus "that reflects the breadth of Black life on campus."

That includes Rashida Duvall (Alijah Kai), a first‑gen criminal justice major; Shaquille Johnson (Cornell Young IV), a five‑star athlete choosing legacy; Amir Rodale (Jordan Aaron Hall), a sharp psych major better at fixing everyone else's problems than facing his own; Hazel Henry (Kennedi Reece), a church‑raised small‑town girl defining her own values; and Kojo Achebe (Chibuikem Uche), a Ghanaian‑Nigerian fashion entrepreneur finding the courage to follow his vision.

In addition to the new class, legacy favorites also return, including Whitley Gilbert and Dwayne Wayne themselves, as well as Freddie Brooks (Cree Summer), Ron Johnson (Darryl M. Bell), and Lena James (Jada Pinkett Smith)

Also co-starring are Vincent Jamal Hooper as Ellington, Elijah J. Roberts as Jalen, Renee Harrison as Candace, Famecia Ward as Nellie Gaines, and Dasan Frazier as Xavier.

"Set against the rituals, humor, and nuances of an HBCU, A Different World is a hopeful dramedy, full of heart and unapologetically centered on the richness and complexity of the Black experience," the synopsis promises.

Felicia Pride (Grey's Anatomy, Bel-Air) will serve as showrunner and executive produce alongside Debbie Allen, who served as producer for 122 episodes and directed 83 of the original series. Allen will also direct three new episodes, including the premiere.

Their fellow executive producers include Tom Werner, Reggie Rock Bythewood, Gina Prince-Bythewood, and Mandy Summers.

Influencer Xandra Pohl is facing internet backlash after a video she made went viral for her controversial home renovation choice

In a May 29 TikTok video, the influencer shared that upon seeing the final product after spending a year renovating her house, she decided she didn't "like it anymore" and was starting over

"We are gutting this whole entire thing and starting over," said Pohl

Xandra Pohl has sparked internet discourse after a video she made revealing her controversial home renovation choice went viral.Standing in her kitchen in a May 29 TikTok video, the influencer, 25, told her followers that after renovating her "whole house," she had decided that she didn't "like it anymore, so we are re-renovating it.""Let's talk about it," she said, before opening up about her choice. "So about a year ago, I bought my dream home, and I've been renovating it ever since; But I didn't have an interior designer, and I thought I knew what I wanted, but I don't. And now we are standing in my kitchen, which, honestly, I really like, but I don't love it. So we are gutting this whole entire thing and starting over."

Pohl then shared that all the materials from the house that they would be taking out would be donated to Habitat for Humanity to "make sure that somebody else can have their dream home." Pohl then walked followers through the new renovation plans for the just-finished kitchen, including getting rid of the countertops, taking out the farmhouse-style decor and other things.Commenters had much to say underneath the video, with many expressing their disappointment at Pohl.

"So out of touch with reality ❤️," one user wrote. "Did this piss anyone else off? 🙋‍♀️I live in a one bedroom as a family of 4!" another added. Others called the creator out for posting "rage bait."

"This isn't landing the way you thought it would........" another said. Others weighed in on Pohl's decision to keep the tiled flooring, with quite a few commenters expressing that it was their least favorite part of the kitchen.

Some came through with support for Pohl, including one commenter who wrote, "She's changing something in HER OWN HOUSE, with HER OWN MONEY, and donating all the bits she's removing, yet the comments are people complaining about what they can't afford?? like her renovating her own house is going to change what's in your pockets?"Online, Pohl is known to her 1.3 million TikTok followers and over 600,000 Instagram followers for her lifestyle content, as well as for being a DJ who goes by the stage name XANDRA. She first taught herself how to DJ on YouTube.“There are videos from high school and grade school of me on the floor of my room with just two big speakers,” she told PEOPLE in August 2025. “I had the little 100 DJ board for about two months. Then I told my mom, ‘I want to get a really nice bigger board — I'll pay you back someday because I'm going to figure this out.' She said 'Okay,' and we bought the bigger one."She has also graced the Sports IllustratedSwimsuit edition more than a few times, first being named as a rookie in 2024. In July 2023, she made her debut in the brand's fashion show in Miami.

When she accedes to the throne after her father, Princess Elisabeth will make history as Belgium's first female monarch

Being a royal heir to the throne is a little easier with friends who can relate.

Princess Elisabeth of Belgium graduated from Harvard University this week, celebrating the completion of her two-year master's degree in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.

Marking the milestone, the 24-year-old future queen gave her first major interview to journalist Wim Dehandschutter for the Dutch-language newspaper HNL. In addition to speaking about her time as a Harvard student and her royal destiny, she shared more about her bond with other young royals in a similar position.

After Princess Catharina-Amalia, the 22-year-old future queen of the Netherlands, told the journalist that she's in a private WhatsApp group with fellow heirs Princess Elisabeth and Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway, Elisabeth shared more about their friendship.

“We’ve known each other for a long time and see each other occasionally at events," Princess Elisabeth said in the interview.

"In my generation, there are several women. You see a similar shift in other monarchies," she added. "We are all in the same situation. It’s a hurdle we will face together.”

When she accedes to the throne after her father, King Philippe, as expected, Princess Elisabeth will make history as Belgium's first female monarch. A new act of succession in the nation introducing absolute primogeniture was put into effect 10 years before her birth, meaning her place in the line of succession wasn't affected due to the birth of her two younger brothers.

"It is indeed a first, making it historic. It does mean I don’t have an example of a Belgian reigning queen to look up to. A challenge," she said, per HNL. "But my gender isn’t the only thing that defines me.”

When Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway, now 22, turned 18 in 2022, both Princess Amalia and Princess Elisabeth were there to mark the occasion. Wearing tiaras, the trio posed for an epic portrait that also included Princess Estelle of Sweden, who is second in the line of succession behind her grandfather and mother, and Prince Charles of Luxembourg, who is expected to become Grand Duke one day.

Princess Elisabeth also shared in the new interview what it was like to know the royal destiny ahead of her.

"I’m actually happy knowing what I’ll be doing for the rest of my life," she said. "Many people live in uncertainty, not knowing where they are headed. There is a certain beauty in knowing: this is my path, and it leads there."

Susan Boyle is teasing a "new era" in a series of glamorous Instagram posts she shared on Thursday, May 28

She said new music, titled Just One, is coming soon

The Scottish singer first shocked the judges and audiences with her captivating audition on Britain's Got Talent in 2009

Susan Boyle is turning her glamorous new look up a notch.

Boyle, 65, shared a series of Instagram photos on Thursday, May 28, after deleting all previous posts. She marked the new post as an ad, with the caption, "A new era starts tomorrow."

In the photos, Boyle sported a brown velour tracksuit with coordinating sneakers and an eye-catching fur coat. She accessorized with large retro-inspired sunglasses, with her hair blonde and cut into a bob with bangs. The photos showed Boyle crossing a street, sitting in a car and singing into a microphone in what appears to be a recording studio.

The Scottish singer's previous album, TEN, was released in 2019.

Later on Thursday, Boyle shared a photo that featured "Just One" in gold lettering on the back of her tracksuit as she stood in the studio. "I've heard it's Susan Boyling out there… and it's about to get hotter. Just One is out soon xx," she captioned the photo.

The singer initially debuted her new haircut in 2025 at the Pride of Britain Awards in London, years after she won the hearts of viewers from the U.K. and around the world after her April 2009 Britain's Got Talent audition.

Boyle, who was 47 at the time, sang “I Dreamed A Dream” from Les Misérables for her season 3 auditionin what has been described by Britain's Got Talentas “one of the most unforgettable auditions” in the show's history. Her life-changing performance stunned the audience and judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden, and she was among that season's 40 semifinalists.

Ten years later, Boyle told PEOPLE that she still loves to perform "I Dreamed A Dream."

“It's something I can relate to,” the singer said in 2019.

“It's about a lady who, more or less, was left on her own with nothing," Boyle continued. "Lots was taken away from her and she had to rebuild her life again."

- Text messages between Mackenzie Shirilla and Dominic Russo reveal a toxic relationship before Shirilla intentionally caused a car crash that killed Russo and their friend.

- The former couple allegedly made violent threats against each other.

- The crash and criminal investigation are featured in the Netflix documentary *The Crash*.

Newly revealed text messages between Mackenzie Shirilla and former boyfriend Dominic Russo indicate a toxic, volatile relationship leading up to the 2022 car crash that killed Russo and a friend.

The details of the car crash and Shirilla's subsequent criminal trial are the subject of the Netflix documentary *The Crash*.

On July 31, 2022, then 17-year-old Shirilla drove her 2018 Toyota Camry into a brick wall in Strongsville, Ohio, at nearly 100 mph. Passengers Russo and their friend Davion Flanagan died at the scene, while Shirilla sustained several injuries and was taken to the hospital. Shirilla was found guilty of murder in August 2023 and was sentenced to two concurrent life sentences with the possibility of parole after 15 years when a judge concluded that she intentionally caused the fatal crash.

According to text messages obtained by PEOPLE from the Strongsville Police Department in Ohio this month, Shirilla and Russo had a mercurial relationship. They began dating in 2018 and were on-again, off-again throughout their four-year relationship. The obtained text messages were exchanged from January 2020 to July 30, 2022, the day before Russo died.

In January 2020, Shirilla asked Russo for a ride to school one morning. When Russo said no, Shirilla became angry. "I'm so f---ing mad," she said in one text, followed by other messages: "I'm gonna kill someone" and "I'm mad as f--- rn [right now]."

Later that same day, she and Russo engaged in an argument. "I F---ING HATE MYSELF IM UGLY AND YOU J[UST] ADD ON TO IT AND MAKE ME FEEL EVEN UGLYER," Shirilla wrote in a text followed by, "YOU MAKE ME FEEL LIKE IM WORTHLESS I DO SO MUCH S--- FOR YOU."

Russo reassured Shirilla that she didn't "have to do anything for me and id probably be happy."

"Now I'm at your f---ing house breaking down on your floor," Shirilla texted back. "Like you cause pain to me for no reason and then you wonder why I'm so stressed. I'm trying so hard to please you but it's never enough."

In another exchange, Russo and Shirilla discussed taking a break. "Kenzie i think we should take a break again itll be good for both of us," Russo wrote in March 2020. "We havent been getting along and u need to make some friends," he added in another text, along with, "I think it will be good for both of us." Shirilla responded, "No NO NO."

Shirilla acknowledged the toxic nature of their relationship in an exchange from September 2021.

"Like I did break up with you but then you bought me a purse and yes it did fix the problems for a couple days but they just came back worse," she said. Months later, in January 2022, Russo wrote to Shirilla, "U cant go a day without threatening to breakup w me."

One exchange dated August 2021 showed Shirilla allegedly threatening Russo following a disagreement. "Thsts my bad but u did threaten to stab me in the eye," he wrote, and she responded, "Yeah idc [I don't care]."

In a message a few minutes later, Russo repeated the allegation, saying she "threaten[ed] to stab my eye or pour water on me."

"Maybe if u just had my back u wouldn't be threatened," Shirilla wrote back. The exchange concluded with Russo telling her, "Just dont threaten to kill me then I'll probably dip to palm bay."

Russo made other accusations against Shirilla, in March 2022, claiming that she grew violent with him following an argument. "[You] didnt let me out the car and then hit me and pulled the s--- out of my hair then tried to throw a rock at me and threaten to call the cops on me and key my car," he wrote to Shirilla, who later that same day asked him to stop texting her.

Russo said he wouldn't "unless u show me that cops will never be involved, u wont try to ruin my life, key my car, or f--- up my house or somethin Or throw a rock at me."

Shirilla responded, "If you didn't take a video or a photo of me freaking out I would not have thrown the rock or anything. I pulled your hair because you were trying to open my mothers car door and make it hit a f---ing stop sign."

In another interaction that March, the former couple blamed one another for having a "temper" and "anger issues."

"If im being totally honest its your temper thats the main problem u cant act on me hotheaded and then expect me not to react like if u controlled your temper we wouldnt be in any of this," Russo texted Shirilla, who replied, "Obviously I have anger issues I've been working on in my whole entire life I need somebody that's going to be there for me and D escalate my situation‘s when I'm going through a manic episode and you never do that you choose to escalate the situation all the time."

Mackenzie Shirilla and Dominic Russo in 'The Crash'

In another exchange that month, Shirilla accused Russo of cheating on her.

"You can't even prove to me that you're not a cheater because you know deep down that it's still in you and always will be," she wrote. In response, Russo said he was sorry but noted that he was "changing."

"You are not sorry you are trying to manipulate me and lie to my face you know you do not care," Shirilla responded, adding in other messages, "Anything that comes out of your mouth is a guarantee lie" and "Like you are a straight liar a pathological manipulator."

Weeks before the car crash in July, Russo sent Shirilla a text message imploring her once more to take a break.

"Kenzie u know i love u but i dont think we should be together at this point there isnt very much time on earth," the message said, according to *TMZ*.

Perhaps the most haunting exchange between Russo and Shirilla happened two weeks before Russo's death, when Shirilla accused Russo of trying to kill her in a car crash.

"The fact that my boyfriend of four years just tried to end my life by steering me off of the highway that's how I know you're not in love and you never were somebody who loves me would never do this to me," she wrote.

Russo denied her allegations. "I'm already nervous driving in the rain as it is and the fact that you would even try to steer me off of the road and make my car spin out," Shrillia later replied, adding, "I absolutely cannot believe you just tried to end my life."

- *The View *cohost Sara Haines broke down in tears on the show's *Behind the Table *podcast.

- Haines recalled a sweet moment with her father, pausing to grab a tissue to dab her eyes.

- The cohost's mother and father previously appeared on the podcast with Haines.

*The View** *cohost Sara Haines paused the latest episode of the show's companion podcast after breaking down in tears over an emotional memory of her father.

During a discussion on *Behind the Table* with *View* producer Brian Teta about the talk show's Wednesday edition (which featured an interview with Mindy Kaling about living a healthy life so she can provide for her family), Haines cried as she recounted a bit of advice her dad gave to her about living in the moment.

Haines and Teta broke down a phenomenon called "destination addiction, a preoccupation with the idea that happiness is in the next place, the next job, with the next partner" in life.**

"That hit me hard, because I thought, I'm well aware that we're living the good old days," Haines, 48, said. "My dad said that to my sister. It's about 10 years ago, she was making a move, she was really upset, she lived closer to my parents, and she was leaving. My dad got a little choked up when he said, 'You're doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing.'"

Haines' voice cracked as she began crying over what that quote meant to her with regard to her own family, which includes husband Max Shifrin and their three children.

"There's tissues on the side," Teta said, as Haines continued, "She said, 'I don't want to leave you guys,' and he said, 'Susan, you're making your good old days.' And I thought, how can they be good without my mom and dad? But what he was saying is, you're in that chapter, this is it."

Haines added that the quote "sat with me" and grounds her in moments of struggle.

"I'm always like, wait, if I'm in the good old days, whenever I feel a tension or a lack of appreciation or I'm looking forward, which happens, it's normal, all day long, every day, you stop and you look around and you say, this normal will change," said Haines. "And that's the promise of life is temporary for better and worse. The highs will be followed by lows, the lows will be followed by highs. That is a promise."

- Sepideh Moafi addresses online speculation of an offscreen "beef" between her and *The Pitt* costar Noah Wyle.

- Fans speculated that the heated tension between Moafi's Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi and Wyle's Dr. Robby during season 2 was a form of "retribution" for their supposed offscreen rift.

- "We're really great colleagues. Noah and I have always had a great working relationship," she told *Variety* in a recent interview.

Sepideh Moafi has no fuel to add to the online speculation of an offscreen "beef" between her and *The Pitt** *costar Noah Wyle.

"That's completely false that there's a personal sort of beef or rivalry between us, at least not that I'm aware of," Moafi told *Variety** *in an interview published Wednesday about unsubstantiated claims that she and Wyle had been entangled in a behind-the-scenes feud. Their characters on the HBO medical drama, Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Moafi) and Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch (Wyle), had a tension-filled dynamic throughout season 2.

"You can check with Noah, but I don't know about this," Moafi said.

Dr. Al-Hashimi made her debut in season 2 as an attending who arrives at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center from the VA Hospital, where she previously worked with Dr. Mel King (Taylor Dearden) and Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh). She and Robby bump heads throughout her first day on the job, especially after Robby discovers that she has a condition that causes her to have brief seizures.

In the season finale, the physicians fight over how Dr. Al-Hashimi's condition affects her ability to lead the emergency room, and it serves as another reason Robby feels he can't leave the ED for his motorcycle "spirit quest," as Dr. Abbott (Shawn Hatosy) not-so-affectionately refers to it.

Moafi said that the story was one she had to "fight" for.

"People with disabilities, people with health conditions, are not disposable, and let's just be clear about that," she told *Variety*. "They are not f---ing disposable, and the idea of you did this, and so now you're gone is outrageous and cruel."

Fans speculated that Dr. Al-Hashimi's arc during the season was a form of "retribution" for the supposed offscreen rift between Moafi and Wyle.

"Absolutely not," the *Generation Q: The L Word *alum said. "I do not have that power. We're really great colleagues. Noah and I have always had a great working relationship, which is why it actually felt safe to do the darker, dirtier work in episode 15, particularly because, between setups, we were shooting the s--- and laughing."

Rumors shut down, Moafi is more interested in looking to the future, specifically her return for season 3 and what it will entail for her character.

"At the moment, I am [returning]. I'm not sure to what capacity," she admitted, laughing. "I'm positive, I think? Nothing is clear to me as to what's happening with the story, how many episodes, all that, but I am coming back."

In an interview with ** following the season 2 finale in April, creator R. Scott Gemmill shared that there was no official synopsis for *The Pitt* season 3 at the time, but he knew that the installment will be about Robby trying to pull himself out of the darkness.

"I think the season 3 mantra is 'Physician, heal thyself.' I'm hoping that Robby is smart enough and courageous enough to take the advice that he's always giving to others," Gemmill added.

Gemmill also teased "more story to be told" regarding Dr. Al-Hashimi's medical condition, place in the ED, and rocky relationship with Robby. He said that what interested him about the plotline is "what happens when you're faced with an affliction that may cause you to lose the one thing and prevent you from doing the one thing that you really have spent your whole life working towards, and what does that mean and how does that affect your identity?"

After introducing a storyline focused on ICE in season 2, Gemmill said the creative team will continue incorporating real-world events and reflecting changes in U.S. healthcare policy.

"There's a lot of changes to Medicare and Medicaid, and those are going to have real repercussions on the emergency department and everyone who works there and uses it," he said. "We're going to explore that this year, for sure."

As for the returning cast, in addition to Wyle and Moafi, Gemmill told *TVLine* that he sees Patrick Ball's Dr. Frank Langdon and Dearden's Mel returning for season 3 along with main cast members Isa Briones (Dr. Trinity Santos), Fiona Dourif (Dr. Cassie McKay), and Gerran Howell (Dr. Dennis Whitaker).

Additionally, Gemmill said Laëtitia Hollard will return as Emma, the fresh-faced nurse who chose one hell of a day to start in the ER, and that Victoria Javadi (Shabana Azeez) will explore emergency psychiatry, which was teased in the season 2 finale.

Joining the main cast, meanwhile, is Ayesha Harris, whose no-nonsense Dr. Parker Ellis we've seen as part of the ED's night shift, a.k.a. "the Nightcrawlers."
