Katy Perry believes in being kind and doesn't "drag her haters" because she thinks anyone who is unkind "must already be in a lot of pain." She wishes everyone, including the people who criticize her, the best, hoping they find peace in their lives.

It's not the first time a celebrity has faced criticism online. While many respond with sharp comebacks, the "Roar" singer decided to take a different approach. She took the path of kindness rather than conflict, proving once again why she is admired by many.

Katy Perry on why she doesn't 'drag haters': 'They must already be in a lot of pain'

Katy Perry has faced criticism numerous times in her life. This is a common part of celebrities' lives. No matter what they do, they are dragged down by someone or the other, even when it is not their fault.

Some stars clap back at the trolls, while others choose to stay silent. However, Perry didn't do either. Recently, she posted on X (formerly Twitter) about positivity and joy. She wrote, "I love you. be kind. always take the high road if you can my kc's. it's much lighter here. so excited to share my joy and light with you this summer. i already miss you."

A fan responded to her post, saying she should "drag her haters for once." According to them, "love light doesn't always work."

The "Firework" hitmaker came back with a reply that showed her confident and forgiving side. She responded to the fan account, saying she doesn't need to drag anyone, as "they must already be in a lot of pain to be so unkind." Perry added that she sends them love and hopes they can find peace in their lives.

Her response shows that hitting back at trolls doesn't always work. This is because sometimes, we have to choose a different route, one that is filled with positivity and light, to be at peace.

Paulette Dorflaufer, a Holocaust survivor, has held the community role in New Jersey for 20 years

"If she's not at her post, I get a text. Everywhere we go, people stop her," the 82-year-old woman's daughter said

An elderly crossing guard serves fabulous looks while on the job.

Paulette Dorflaufer helps children and other community members cross the street in New Jersey, all while rocking extravagant fur outerwear.

"[I have about] 13, 15 fur coats, and I change [my coat] every three days," Dorflaufer, 82, told CBS News Chicago.

Dorflaufer, who was born in France, is also a Holocaust survivor. Her parents and five siblings died at Auschwitz, but she survived after she was taken to the hospital for surgery.

A nurse helped her escape, and she eventually made her way to the United States as a child, Dorflauferexplained in an Instagram video.

Dorflaufer previously worked as a dental assistant, a model and in cosmetology. She has been working as a crossing guard for 20 years.

In her personal life, Dorflaufer has raised three children, looked after her grandchildren and is soon to become a great-grandmother.

Rachel Frieman, Dorflaufer's granddaughter, told the Daily Voice, "She dresses like that no matter where we're going."

"She has fur in the winter, but in the summer it's a heel and a dress, and this fascinator chapeau situation in her hair," she added to the outlet of her grandmother.

"People always think she's celebrating something, but this is her," the family member further explained.

Dorflaufer has an Instagram account where she explains how — and why — she chooses some of her looks.

In one recent clip, she said she chose an all-blue outfit and a matching sparkly headpiece for a specific reason.

"When I woke up, I felt I was in a blue mood," Dorflaufer playfully explained.

Other videos show Dorflaufer having fun as she puts her crossing guard vest over her fur coats.

Dorflaufer's daughter, Heather Frieman, told the Daily Voice her mom is a staple in their local community.

"If she's not at her post, I get a text. Everywhere we go, people stop her," she explained.

"She's so bubbly, loves to talk to anybody," granddaughter Rachel added. "She's always happy, always positive and always has a smile on her face."

In early 1992, Mr. Big's power ballad "To Be With You," which dropped months earlier on Nov. 22, 1991, became an unexpected success. The soft rock hit topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the end of February 1992 and stayed in that position for three straight weeks. For the band, however, the achievement only hinted at the song's larger significance: it is widely-regarded as the last glam metal song to reach No. 1 on that chart.

RELATED: 1974 No 1. Hit Ranked a Greatest 'Love Song of All Time' Turns 52 Years Old Today

Released as the second single from the band's sophomore album, Lean Into It, "To Be With You," edged out Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy" when it topped the charts, but also became a global phenomenon, taking the No.1 spot on the charts in 12 countries including the U.S., as well as Australia, Canada, Germany, and New Zealand.

At the Time, the Song Was Unlike Anything Else They Had Released

Although Mr. Big is known as a glam metal hair band formed in the '80s, "To Be With You" had little in common with the genre. Built around mellow acoustics, harmonies, and human handclaps, the tune offers a stripped-down feel with tender lyrics that pull at the heartstrings. That melodic sound was a deviation from the band's catalog of tunes that featured glam metal tracks like "Take Cover," "Wind Me Up," and "Addicted To That Rush."

Regardless, "To Be With You," and its black-and-white music video, connected with audiences everywhere, becoming a timeless track that still finds people singing along today.

Behind the Lyrics

Written by lead singer Eric Martin alongside David Grahame and produced by Kevin Elson, "To Be With You" finds the singer fixated on a potential love interest. He waits in the wings while trying to persuade his crush to leave her current flame to be with him.

"I'm the one who wants to be with you / Deep inside I hope you feel it too (feel it too) / Waited on a line of greens and blues (waited on a line) / Just to be the next to be with you," the catchy and familiar chorus goes.

In a 2022 interview on The Mitch Lafon and Jeremy White Show, Martin opened up about the inspiration behind the beloved track, saying that he wrote the beginning of the song as a teenager about a real-life girl he knew at the time.

"We remained friends for a while, and then I just kinda lost touch. She married a musician, a Scottish fellow …," he explained. "I had the nucleus of that song when I was 16 years old. I carried it in my bag of tricks for years, and in 1988, I actually got some help for it with David. He and I finished it"

He continued, "I played it for [bassist] Paul Gilbert when we were putting Mr. Big together ... .it got put further away from the pile of songs that we had written and there was a chance it wasn't going to make it ... .We didn't know where to put it [on the album] and it ended up on the end of the record."

Formed in 1988, the original members of Mr. Big consisted of Martin, along with bassist Billy Sheehan, guitarist Paul Gilbert, and drummer Pat Torpey. The band signed with Atlantic Records, a label that had previously dropped Martin, who was working as a solo artist before joining the band.

Mr. Big's albums include the band's 1989 self-titled album, followed by 1991's Lean into It, 1993's Bump Ahead, 1996's Hey Man, 1999's Get Over It, 2001's Actual Size, 2011's What If…, 2014's The Stories We Could Tell, 2017's Defying Gravity, and 2024's Ten.

Former Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron left the reality TV competition in 2019, after having been with the series since it debuted in 2005.

Tyra Banks, the former host of America's Next Top Model, eventually took over duties from Bergeron and Erin Andrews, a former competitor who had cohosted alongside Bergeron since 2014. (Current hosts are Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough.)

In between, however, radio personality Bobby Bones, who'd been paired with Sharna Burgess, and won the entire show in 2018, was a candidate to host, the two recalled this week on Bones' The BobbyCast.

Get your daily dose of entertainment news, celebrity updates, and what to watch with our EW Dispatch newsletter.

"Before they went to Tyra Banks to replace me, they went to you, right?" Bergeron asked.

Bones answered, "Yes, but in full transparency, I was told you were leaving."

When Bergeron said he wasn't given a choice, Bones said he had simply been told that Bergeron was leaving at the end of the season. Would he want to host?

"I respected you so much," Bones said. "I was like, 'Hey, can I talk to Tom and get advice on this decision?'"

Tom Bergeron; Bobby BonesCredit: ABC/Eric McCandless; Allen Berezovsky/Getty

Bones alleged that he was told, "Contractually, we don't think you should do that."

To this, Bergeron said, "They are such weasels sometimes, aren't they?"

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to the show for comment.

Bergeron also took the opportunity to apologize to Bones for saying that Bones' win on the ABC series was the result that shocked him the most.

"It's funny you're asking about eliminations" Bergeron told Parade in November. "The thing that shocked me most was a win. Bobby Bones."

He went on to compare Bones with Andy Richter, who competed in 2025.

"He's charming and has such a big heart," Bergeron said of the former Conan O'Brien sidekick. "Do I think he's going to win? No. Do I think he's bringing a quality to the show that epitomizes what the show is? Absolutely. But Bobby Bones was the first time it was like, 'Ouch.' No disrespect to Bobby. He would probably say the same thing."

Bergeron told Bones that he regretted his choice of words.

"I felt terrible that the way I phrased my honest surprise at your win, I think the question to me was, 'What's the most shocking elimination?'" Bergeron said in their conversation. "I couldn't remember a shocking elimination. And I wish I had said, 'Well, this wasn't a shock, but it was a surprise when Bobby Bones won.'"

Bones noted that he found the comment "hurtful" and had returned his Mirrorball trophy.

"I didn't even want to be on the show," Bones said on TikTok. "I had no intention of being on Dancing with the Stars. I was working on a different show at the network, they asked me to go on the show to promote. Am I supposed to not show up and work hard?"

In his conversation with Bones, Bergeron said, "The fact that it hurt your feelings and that you sent your trophy back, I felt terrible about that."

Dancing With the Stars crowned its most recent champion, Robert Irwin, in December.

TOKYO, March 14 (Reuters) - The United States and Japan have agreed on the roles they will take in a potential joint nuclear ‌project involving Westinghouse and Japanese nuclear power equipment makers, Dan Lipman, ‌president of global business initiatives at Westinghouse, told Reuters on Saturday.

Japan and the U.S. are working to include a nuclear power project in a second round of deals under Japan's $550-billion investment package that will involve Westinghouse, sources told Reuters this month.

The momentum for building nuclear power facilities is growing globally as nations look to ‌add more domestically located energy resources to hedge against supply shocks.

The U.S. and Japan governments came to the understanding on their roles in the potential deal, including on the supply chain within Japan, Lipman said on the sidelines of the Indo-Pacific Energy Security Ministerial and Business Forum in Tokyo.

"These are very strategic projects that are very critical to Westinghouse and to our Japanese partners. We're ‌going to continue to work the transactions until projects are identified and ready for deployment," he said, adding that further details are yet to be finalised.

Westinghouse, owned by Cameco and Brookfield, is looking at building pressurised water reactors and small modular reactors for investments of up to $100 billion, according to ‌a fact sheet released after U.S. President Donald Trump met with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in October.

Japanese firms such as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Toshiba and IHI could be ‌involved in the projects, according to the sheet.

"They are critical partners for us, and they'll have an important role," Lipman said, without providing details.

Separately on Saturday, U.S. power equipment maker GE Vernova and Hitachi said in a ‌joint statement they have agreed to explore opportunities to work on projects using their BWRX-300 small modular reactors in Southeast Asia.
