Jack Black brought full Hollywood energy to the racetrack as he stepped into an unexpected role at one of Formula 1's most iconic events, adding a dose of entertainment to an already dramatic race weekend. Jack Black didn't hold back in his new role. He leaned into the moment, waving the flag with high energy, almost like he was performing on stage rather than standing trackside. The crowd noticed instantly, and the moment quickly went viral online.
On track, the race itself delivered a major headline. Kimi Antonelli clinched victory with a dominant drive, marking his second straight win. The young Italian also became the youngest championship leader in the sport's history. He finished ahead of Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc after an earlier Safety Car period reshaped the race.
Fans, however, were split over Black's involvement. Some loved the chaos and praised his enthusiasm. One reaction read, "Jack Black waving the chequered flag like a rockstar… peak entertainment." Others felt the spotlight shifted too much from the race. A few questioned why a Japanese celebrity wasn't chosen for such a local event, calling the decision "embarrassing." Still, supporters defended Black, saying he brought fun without dragging politics into it.

Jack Black isn't the first Hollywood name to take on flag duties in Formula 1. Over the years, several big names from film, TV, and music have been given the honor of waving the chequered flag at major races. That list includes actors like Ana de Armas, who did the honors in Abu Dhabi in 2025, and Patrick Dempsey, who did the honors in Monaco the same year. Tom Holland also waved the flag in Monaco back in 2023.
Black's appearance fits his larger-than-life persona. Known for films like Kung Fu Panda and Jumanji, he built a career on high-energy performances and comedy. He has earned multiple award nominations and remains a fan favorite for both his comedy and music, especially through his band Tenacious D.
