When they're not haunting the halls of Split River High, the cast of School Spirits spends time with their significant others.
On Jan. 28, Paramount+'s supernatural series returned for season 3, with Maddie Nears (Peyton List) and her fellow phantom friends continue to investigate multiple mysteries, and discover new secrets about the past of their high school alumni.
The cast is close, and so are their characters, with multiple ghosties, like Maddie and Wally (Milo Manheim), growing closer over the seasons.
"I wasn't expecting the amount of fans of Maddie and Wally's relationship!" List told PEOPLE in January 2025. "People that are a fan of that relationship will be really happy because there's a lot of moments between them [in season 2]. Maddie's finally able to accept the circumstances, and she's able to pay attention to this boy that's in front of her that she was ignoring for the first season."
"She's finally letting him in," added the Cobra Kai star.
Relationships are complicated in the afterlife, but in the land of the living, several members of the cast have romantic partners, including List, who met her boyfriend when they were both Disney Channel stars.

List stars in School Spirits as Maddie Nears, who is trapped in the afterlife.
List and her boyfriend, Jacob Bertrand, first met in 2015, when they costarred in the Disney Channel original movie, The Swap.
At the time, the two were already Disney stars, with List on the Disney Channel series Jessie, and Bertrand on the Disney XD series Kirby Buckets. The Swap premiered in 2016, and List and Bertrand would also costar together in Cobra Kai, when List joined the series in 2018.
They started off as friends, but their relationship turned romantic. In March 2022, the couple confirmed their relationship. "We've been dating for a while," Bertrand told TMZ. "I've never dated anyone I've worked with before. This is almost trial by fire."
In a November 2024 interview, List told PEOPLE that Bertrand "is the best person."
"He's such an authentic, genuine soul, and I trust him so much," she continued. "I go to him whenever I need advice."

Kristian Ventura

Kristian Ventura plays Simon Elroy, Maddie's best friend, and the rare living person who can see her as a ghost.
Ventura's relationship status is unclear, but he has spoken about his character's romantic feelings, and how there may be more than just friendly feelings between Maddie and Simon.
"I think what it is right now is a person with the most brilliant mind analyzing their love. It's a little in this gray zone," he told Screen Rant in January 2024. "My answer is more theoretical and more intuitive, and it is that we all want to marry our best friend."
Kristian continued, "I just want to make sure I'm not hoping for it, and I'm just trying to understand their own love, but I think it's a twin flame."

Manheim portrays Wally Clark, a ghost jock who developed feelings for Maddie, but in real life the actor has been mum on his relationship status.
Aside from School Spirits, the actor has starred in Disney Channel's Zombies movies, and he appeared in the 2023 holiday slasher, Thanksgiving.

Spencer MacPherson plays Xavier Baxter, Maddie's boyfriend in the world of the living.
In real life, MacPherson has been married to swimwear designer Paige Macpherson since October 2024.
The couple had been dating for at least three years, and announced their engagement in July 2023 on Instagram.

Kiara Pichardo plays Maddie's friend, Nicole Herrera.
Pichardo's relationship status is unclear, but she is close with her School Spirits costars, as she told The Nerds of Color in February 2025.
"We have a really good dynamic on and off-screen, which is a blessing, because you don't always get that on every set," the actress said.

The actress is in a relationship with podcast writer and producer Nicole Boyce.
In an interview with Numéro Netherlands, Yarkin spoke about exploring her queer identity in recent years, and how that impacted her School Spirits character.
"When I booked School Spirits, I was just starting to understand my bisexuality and met Nate [Trinrud, School Spirits co-creator] and told him I thought Rhonda was probably queer," she recalled.
Yarkin continued, "He agreed, and in that gave me the freedom to continue to learn about myself as I created this character. I am forever grateful."

Nick Pugliese plays the ghost, Charley.
Pugliese's relationship status is not public, but he has a special bond with his School Spirits costars, saying they've "grown up together," as he told Bleeding Cool News in January 2026.

Zuckerman has been married to fellow Desperate Housewives alum Andrea Bowen since 2024.
"We got married and then about 6 months later, you had a birthday. 2 occasions to proclaim and affirm how much I love and cherish you. @andiebo you're one in a gazillion ❤️❤️," Zuckerman wrote on Instagram in a sweet tribute to Bowen.
In September 2025, the couple announced they were expecting their first child, whom they welcomed a few months later, per Bowen's Instagram.

"I love them so much. They are so professional," she told Fox 11 Los Angeles in January 2026. "They're so hardworking and dedicated. They taught me so much. Milo is just a ball of energy. He comes to set with a smile on his face every day, and he makes the green room so fun."
