Jonnie Irwin once admitted he didn't assume his time on A Place in the Sun would final.

After being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2022, it was announced at the moment that the TV presenter had died at the age of 50.

In that interview Irwin stated he felt like part of the 'furniture' of the present and that he was 'immensely pleased with its continued success'.

Nevertheless, the next yr, following his cancer analysis, Irwin claimed he was 'pushed aside for somebody more healthy' by Channel four.

'I informed them I needed to work. Once I stated I can get you doctor notes and assurances from my oncologist that I am match to work, I used to be advised, verbatim, "Oh, you actually don't need to go down that route, do you?"

He claimed that the present paid him for the remainder of the season but didn't renew his contract.

Including when chatting with The Solar, Irwin stated: 'Inside two weeks someone else was on TV doing my job. I just really feel I earned a bit more from them after 18 years.'

On the time Channel 4 and Freeform informed the outlet in a press release 'no stone was left unturned in making an attempt to enable Jonnie to proceed his worldwide filming with us throughout Covid but the production company have been unable to secure satisfactory insurance cover for him'.

The businesses added they 'understand how irritating this have to be for him at this incredibly troublesome time'.

A Place in the Sun is streaming on Channel four.
