Hillary Clinton isn't mincing words about Bernie Sanders — in both an upcoming documentary, where she calls him a “profession politician” whom “no one likes,” and in an interview published Tuesday where she took goal at his supporters.
In that interview, for a cover story in The Hollywood Reporter concerning the four-part Hulu doc Hillary, the previous Democratic presidential nominee and secretary of state confirmed she stands by a scathing assessment of Sanders which she made in the documentary.
Sanders, Clinton’s erstwhile rival and a longtime Vermont senator who votes with however shouldn't be a Democrat, is likely one of the main candidates for the 2020 Democratic nomination after dropping to Clinton in the 2016 main.
“He was in Congress for years. He had one senator help him. No one likes him, no one needs to work with him, he obtained nothing executed,” Clinton, 72, says in the documentary, in response to THR. “He was a profession politician. It’s all just baloney and I really feel so dangerous that folks received sucked into it.”
Sanders, 78, has a contentious and sophisticated history with Clinton. He ran a surprisingly robust — however finally unsuccessful — marketing campaign towards her for the Democratic presidential nomination. She went on to narrowly lose the overall election to President Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, Sanders disregarded Clinton’s comments when NBC White Home correspondent Geoff Bennett asked the senator for his reaction: “On a very good day, my wife likes me, so let’s clear the air on that one,” Sanders replied.
When Bennett asked Sanders why he thinks Clinton continues to be speaking about 2016, Sanders said, “That’s a superb query. You must ask her.”
Even though Sanders has a robust probability at profitable the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, Clinton advised THR that she wasn’t ready to say whether or not she’ll endorse and marketing campaign for him.
“I’m not going to go there but,” Clinton stated. “We’re nonetheless in a very vigorous main season.”
Later Tuesday, Clinton tweeted that she would “do no matter I can to help our nominee” and that her ultimate aim was defeating Trump.
She took a jocular, verging on sarcastic tone in responding to the headlines about her Sanders’ comments.
“I assumed everybody needed my genuine, unvarnished views!” she wrote. “But to be critical, the primary precedence for our nation and world is retiring Trump, and, as I all the time have, I will do whatever I can to help our nominee.”

Although Sanders endorsed Clinton because the nominee and campaigned for her in 2016, the two haven't had a heat relationship.
In one main debate, Sanders said Clinton wasn’t “qualified” to be president — one thing she continued to take challenge with in her THR interview this week.
The Clinton camp was also important of the truth that Sanders didn’t immediately again her for president after she beat him out for the nomination and, indeed, insisted on persevering with to run a Democratic main campaign even when it turned clear that he had lost.
Sanders’ supporters have their own grievances. Hacked emails from the Democratic Nationwide Committee showed some social gathering officials had a bias towards Clinton. Clinton, in flip, took umbrage with the conduct of some of Sanders’ backers.
“Some of his supporters, the so-called ‘Bernie Bros,’ took to harassing my supporters online. It obtained ugly and greater than a bit of sexist,” Clinton wrote in What Occurred, her memoir concerning the 2016 election. “Nonetheless, his assaults triggered lasting injury, making it more durable to unify progressives in the basic election and paving the best way for Trump’s ‘Crooked Hillary’ marketing campaign.”

In the 2020 main, Sanders has been in another current conflict, this time with fellow progressive Elizabeth Warren. Earlier this month, Sen. Warren stated that Sanders advised her in 2018 that a woman couldn’t become president in 2020 — which Sanders has vehemently denied.
“Anyone is aware of me is aware of that it’s incomprehensible that I might assume that a lady can't be president of america,” Sanders stated when requested about his comments on the mid-January main debate. “Go to YouTube at the moment. There’s a video of me 30 years in the past speaking about how a lady might grow to be president of the USA.”
Clinton doesn’t appear to be buying it, telling THR:
“It’s not solely him, it’s the culture round him. “It’s his management staff. It’s his outstanding supporters. It’s his online Bernie Bros and their relentless attacks on a lot of his rivals, notably the ladies. And I actually hope individuals are listening to that because it must be worrisome that he has permitted this culture — not only permitted, appears to actually be very much supporting it. And I don’t assume we need to go down that street once more where you marketing campaign by insult and attack and perhaps you attempt to get far from it, however you either don’t know what your campaign and supporters are doing or you’re simply giving them a wink and you need them to go after Kamala or after Elizabeth . I feel that that’s a pattern that folks should keep in mind once they make their selections.”
