Taylor Dayne and Diane Warren go way back.

Speaking with PEOPLE on the red carpet at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Dinner in New York City on Thursday, June 11, Dayne recalled a funny story about her songwriting sessions with Warren.

"Diane used to show up with a bird on her," Dayne, 64, says of Warren, 68.

"I'm like, 'Who the F shows up with a bird on their shoulder constantly?'" she continues. "I'm like, 'How do you go to lunch with that?' She goes, 'Shut up, Taylor. Like I'm going to lunch with the bird.' Animals always came first with Diane, so I kind of got it. And then she would never clean up her studio."

She concludes, "There's a million stories about Diane, but her humanity is always animals first and humans later. And therapy."

Reflecting on her character, Dayne cited Cher's comments about Warren in her 2025 documentary Diane Warren: Relentless.

"We just know her so long. The relentlessness, the incredibleness, a true artist through and through and a wonderful human being," she says.

Dayne collaborated with Warren on two songs from her second studio album titled "Love Will Lead You Back" and "I'll Be Your Shelter." The first peaked at No. 1 and the second No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

At the ceremony, Dayne performed a tribute for inductees Terry Britten and Graham Lyle. She sang Tina Turner's "We Don't Need Another Hero," which they co-wrote.

Speaking with PEOPLE ahead of the performance, Dayne says it was "a great honor" as a fan of Turner.

The class of 2026 inductees also included Taylor Swift, Walter Afanasieff, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS, Kenny Loggins, Alanis Morissette and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart.

In 2024, Dayne opened up to PEOPLE about performing after a journey with colon cancer.

"I made a decision," Dayne said at the time. "I was lying in the hospital after surgery. I got really, really sick, and it gave me a new sense of purpose. I said, 'I'm not ready to go. I'm going to fight this.'"

She added, "The gratitude is immeasurable. I weighed 98 pounds by the end of my treatment. And I even walked weird. But that's one trial and tribulation. That's not the story."

At the ceremony, Dayne gave PEOPLE an update on her health.

"My health is something that I am a diligent warrior with," she says. "I'm ever grateful to be here. I understand so much more the value and my purpose for being here. I take it very seriously. I'm a warrior."

Netflix kicked off the summer by cranking up the heat with the new Jennifer Lopez rom-com Office Romance.

Lopez stars in the new movie as Jackie Cruz, the tough-as-nails CEO of an airline company who runs her business by the book, which includes maintaining a strict policy that forbids employees from having romantic relationships. Enter Daniel Blanchflower (Ted Lasso fave Brett Goldstein), the company's handsome new lawyer who immediately puts Jackie's policy to the test. As a bonus, the movie also features a reunion between Lopez and Edward James Olmos, who played her dad in Selena (1997).

Office Romance has been dominating the Netflix chart since it was released on June 5. If you're still in swoon-mode, here are five great rom-coms starring Jennifer Lopez to watch next.

01 of 05

Marry Me (2022)

Owen Wilson and Jennifer Lopez in 'Marry Me'Credit: Everett

Netflix subscribers don't even need to exit the app to watch another delightful Jennifer Lopez rom-com. Originally released on Peacock alongside a theatrical debut, Marry Me premiered in 2022 and costars Owen Wilson, Sarah Silverman, and Game of Thrones alum John Bradley (a.k.a. Samwell Tarly).

Lopez plays Kat Valdez, a pop superstar whose tumultuous relationship history, which includes four failed marriages, is major tabloid fodder — sounds familiar, no? Kat is planning to wed her new fiancé, fellow musician Bastian (Colombian rapper Maluma), at one of her concerts in an event that will be live-streamed around the world. But just as Kat is about to tie the knot, a tabloid runs a story about her fiancé's affair with her assistant.

Instead of calling the whole thing off, Kat looks in the crowd and spots handsome dad Charlie (Wilson) holding a sign his daughter made that reads "Marry Me," the title of Kat and Bastian's hit duet. Kat makes the impulsive decision to marry Charlie, who agrees to remain in the relationship for a few months for the positive press. As Kat gets to know Charlie — a divorced single dad and math teacher — their fake romance blossoms into real love.

Out of Sight (1998)

Jennifer Lopez and George Clooney in 'Out of Sight'Credit: Everett

It's not a pure rom-com, but Out of Sight might be something even better: It's a sexy comedic thriller starring Lopez and George Clooney, whose on-screen chemistry is beyond electric.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh, Out of Sight stars Clooney as Jack Foley, a successful and notorious bank robber whose prison escape is complicated by the interference of U.S. Marshal Karen Sisco (Lopez). When Foley and his accomplice steal Sisco's car to get away from the scene, they stick her in the trunk with Foley, and it doesn't take long for the two to start talking. Their mutual attraction is instantaneous and undeniable.

Later, when Sisco gets away and returns to work, she makes it her mission to track Foley down, resulting in the steamiest, most exhilarating game of cat-and-mouse in modern movie history. With a star-studded supporting cast that includes Ving Rhames, Don Cheadle, Catherine Keener, Viola Davis, and Steve Zahn, Out of Sight is a must-see, especially for Lopez fans.

Where to watch Out of Sight: Amazon Prime and Apple TV (rent or buy)

The Wedding Planner (2001)

Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez in 'The Wedding Planner'Credit: Everett

You couldn't make a rom-com in the '90s and early '00s without Matthew McConaughey, Lopez's costar in The Wedding Planner.

This sweet rom-com follows the eponymous wedding planner, Mary (Lopez), who is more concerned with her career ambitions than fulfilling her dad's wish of marrying her childhood sweetheart. But Mary gets more than she bargained for with her new client, the ultra-wealthy heiress Fran (Bridgette Wilson-Sampras). After a handsome pediatrician named Steve (McConaughey) rescues Mary from oncoming traffic, the pair hit it off over the course of one impossibly romantic evening— only for Mary to discover that Steve is actually Fran's fiancé.

With a classic rom-com setup and cute chemistry between McConaughey and Lopez, The Wedding Planner is a charming throwback worth seeking out.

Monster-in-Law (2005)

Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda in 'Monster-in-Law'Credit: Everett

Monster-in-Law was a monster hit at the box office, thanks in no small part to Lopez's star power and the casting of the great Jane Fonda, who hadn't appeared in a film in 15 years.

The 2005 rom-com stars Lopez as Jackie, an aspiring fashion designer who meets and instantly falls head over heels for Kevin, a handsome doctor (we're sensing a theme here) played by Michael Vartan (1999's Never Been Kissed). Kevin proposes to Jackie, and it seems like she's finally found her happily-ever-after — until she meets Kevin's overbearing mom, Viola (Fonda).

Get your daily dose of entertainment news, celebrity updates, and what to watch with our EW Dispatch newsletter.

A famous talk show host, Viola recently had a very public meltdown and attacked a teen pop star when she found out she was being replaced by a younger host. Jackie's soon-to-be mother-in-law channels all her resentment and rage into breaking up her son's engagement by becoming an absolute terror. It's fun to watch Fonda play the most comically extreme versions of nightmarish mother-in-law tropes.

Maid in Manhattan (2002)

Ralph Fiennes and Jennifer Lopez in 'Maid in Manhattan'Credit: Everett

For a younger generation, it might be hard to imagine Ralph Fiennes, best known for his role as the sinister Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies, as a romantic leading man. But Fiennes is an immensely versatile actor, and he turns on the charm in Maid in Manhattan.

Lopez stars as Marisa, a single mom and New York native who works as a housekeeper in a glamorous, high-class hotel. While Marisa is cleaning out a room, her son, Ty, is befriended by a wealthy politician named Chris (Fiennes), resulting in a classic meet cute of the mistaken identity variety. Marisa is trying on an expensive designer coat that a socialite left behind when Ty brings Chris up to the hotel room, leading Chris to believe that Marisa is actually the room's previous guest.

A riff on the beloved Cinderella fairy tale, Maid in Manhattan follows Marisa and Chris as they navigate their class differences in an unlikely romance.

Tom Cruise reunited with Dakota Fanning and Colin Farrell at a screening of Steven Spielberg's new movie Disclosure Day

Spielberg directed Cruise and Fanning in War of the Worlds and Cruise and Farrell in Minority Report

Cruise wrote in the caption, "Nothing better than a summer Spielberg movie night in a packed theater with friends!"

Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning and Colin Farrell had one very fun day watching Steven Spielberg's newest movie.

Cruise, 63, posted a photo from the screening of Spielberg's Disclosure Day on June 12. In the first photo, he posed with Fanning, 32, and Farrell, 50. Cruise and Fanning starred together in 2005's War of the Worlds, directed by Spielberg. Fanning was just 10 at the time. Cruise and Farrell were costars in another Spielberg film, three years earlier, 2003's Minority Report.

Cruise wrote in the caption, "Nothing better than a summer Spielberg movie night in a packed theater with friends!"

He continued, "Steven, thank you for all of the hours of joy that you have given us in the cinema!! It has been a great honor and pleasure to have worked with you and to call you my friend." He also congratulated his "dear friend" Emily Blunt (with whom he starred in 2014's Edge of Tomorrow) and "the entire group of artists that created this movie."

He added, "We all loved Disclosure Day!!" In his hands, Cruise held a popcorn bucket shaped like Spielberg, wearing a hat that had the movie's name on it. He also posed with fans at the screening with the bucket, whose provenance remains unknown (the official popcorn bucket for the film is a stag with a cardinal on its antlers).

In War of the Worlds, adapted from H.G. Wells' original novel of the same name and Orson Welles' famous 1938 radio program that told the story, Cruise played Ray Ferrier, and Fanning played Rachel, his daughter. The movie saw Cruise and Fanning flee during an alien invasion and ultimately try to make it out alive. War of the Worlds also starred Miranda Otto, Tim Robbins and Lisa Ann Walter. It made over $600 million and was acclaimed especially for its special effects.

And Fanning and Cruise have remained close through the years. Fanning said during a 2025 episode of Watch What Happens Live that every year since they filmed the movie, Cruise has given her "really nice shoes" for her birthday. Cruise also bought Fanning her first cell phone when she was 11.

Meanwhile, Cruise and Farrell's Minority Report was loosely based on Philip K. Dick's 1956 novella of the same name. It took place in 2054 in a world where a specialized "precrime" police department uses psychics to predict who will commit crimes. Once you're arrested, you're placed in a coma and imprisoned indefinitely. Cruise played Chief John Anderton, the commanding officer of the precrime unit, while Farrell played Danny Witwer, an agent from the Department of Justice. The late Max von Sydow played Lamar Burgess, the director of precrime who carries out his own series of crimes.

Minority Report made over $350 million at the box office. Its critical reputation has only grown over the years; in 2025, The New York Times named it one of its 100 greatest films of the 21st century.

Reflecting on working with Cruise, Spielberg said at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, this March, "Tom Cruise showed up every morning when I showed up. I show up before the crew. So I get to the set sometimes at 6:30 in the morning."

He explained, "On Minority Report and on War of the Worlds, Tom would insist on getting there when I got there so we would map out the whole day … which was really helpful for me."

Disclosure Day is in theaters now.

Lisa Vanderpump's impressive hospitality portfolio keeps on growing!

On Thursday, June 11, the reality TV star, restaurateur and entrepreneur, 65, celebrated the grand opening of The Vanderpump Hotel located on the Las Vegas Strip. The property marks her first hotel venture in partnership with Caesars Entertainment.

Vanderpump hosted a lavish bash to celebrate the debut of her 188-room hotel, during which she received a Key to The Strip in honor of her expanding influence in Sin City. The "industrial romantic" space was designed by Vanderpump and Nick Alain's design company, Vanderpump Alain, and reflects a mix of "feminine elegance with a masculine edge," according to a press release.

The hotel also honors the star's British roots, including the mural of Vanderpump walking through London, as well as a red telephone booth and a classic English taxi.

Also located at the hotel is the recently opened Gigolo lounge, named after her late Pomeranian Giggy. Near the casino, reimagined crystal chandeliers with custom shades create a dramatic ambience in the space.

Before the property underwent a complete renovation to transform into The Vanderpump Hotel, the building was previously an existing hotel called The Cromwell.

In March 2025, Vanderpump announced her plans for the redevelopment exclusively with PEOPLE.

"It is just going to be another passion project and that's what I'm looking for in my life," she said at the time, before getting into the details of the property's transformation.

"It's a very different challenge — because it's an existing building — than what we've created before, [where] we literally built a casino floor into a restaurant," she explained. "We're going to be working with the parameters of the hotel walls. It's not like we are knocking anything down but we're refurbishing all the rooms. It's great that it's a boutique hotel and it's on The Strip. It's just a wonderful project for the Vanderpump brand."

She also explained her design process and how she finds inspiration wherever she goes.

"What I love is the freshness, the new challenge, the visuals," she told PEOPLE. "I look at everything, everywhere I go. It's like my mind wanders into the design of it. I find it very, very exciting. And luckily, I have a partner in our design business that likes to explore as well and to create the extraordinary."

Vanderpump also worked with Alain to design her latest Vegas restaurant Pinky's, which opened inside Flamingo Las Vegas in December 2024.

She also opened Vanderpump Cocktail Garden at Caesars Palace in March 2019, followed by Vanderpump à Paris at Paris Las Vegas in April 2022.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A New Mexico judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit that challenged the state's universal childcare program, allowing the ambitious and closely watched experiment to continue.

Attorneys for former Republican gubernatorial candidate Duke Rodriguez and other plaintiffs had questioned the process used by Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham's administration to eliminate an income cap and co-pays for childcare assistance before the Legislature had a chance to weigh in or approve funding.

Attorneys representing Lujan Grisham and the state's childcare agency argued that lawmakers have since authorized and funded the program's expansion, rendering the legal challenge moot.

District Judge Elaine Lujan agreed, tossing the lawsuit and allowing the state to continue footing the daycare bill for families regardless of income. She also found that Rodriguez and his co-plaintiffs lacked standing to bring the lawsuit.

Rodriquez's attorneys indicated they will appeal the judge's decision.

"Just because (Lujan Grisham) thinks she has a great idea doesn't mean she gets to write the law and enforce the law," plaintiffs attorney Jacob Candelaria said after Thursday's hearing.

Thursday's ruling prevented a financial headache for many childcare businesses and for families who have rebalanced household budgets around free childcare.

Lujan Grisham's administration applauded the ruling.

"The lawsuit — nothing more than a cheap political stunt disguised as a constitutional claim — caused New Mexico's working families undue worry about their access to the program," said Michael Coleman, a spokesperson for the governor's office. "With the judge's ruling today, they can rest assured that universal child care is here to stay."

The challenge came as New Mexico looks to cement its place as the first U.S. state to cover daycare bills for all families regardless of income, provided parents or legal guardians are working, in school or qualify for an exemption. The stakes extend nationwide as policymakers from New York to California look for models to reduce costs for families and expand public investment in childcare.

During the hearing, Candelaria told the judge that the governor's move to establish the program without the Legislature weighing in was "a fundamental perversion of the separation of powers" and that New Mexicans' constitutional interests needed to be protected.

Holly Agajanian, the governor's chief general counsel, suggested that the plaintiffs were asking the court to referee a policy disagreement on the merits of universal child care.

"We are not in a constitutional crisis," Agajanian said.

Lujan Grisham signed legislation in February enshrining the program into law, provided state finances remain healthy.

New Mexico's program, which is financed in large part with revenue from oil and gas production in the state, was among the nation's most generous before November's expansion, waiving costs for families making up to 400% of the federal poverty rate or roughly $132,000 per year for a family of four.

Legislative analysts have raised questions about the sustainability of New Mexico's expanded program, noting earlier this year that the state's Early Childhood Education and Care Department started overspending just weeks into the November launch.

This week, the state agency proposed new regulations aimed at shoring up the program's sustainability. Potential guardrails include copayments for higher-income families in the event of a significant drop in oil prices or enrollment in free childcare surging beyond state projections.

“I took four minutes off the running time of my show, and I knew the traffic would be crazy, so I sprinted from the Hudson Theater on 44th and 6th to MSG,” Hargitay explained.

"But I knew everything was going to be alright, because I was wearing my Jalen Brunson Kobe 5 Protos that Jalen gave me a few months ago. But I’m not gonna lie, the ten block sprint after a 2-show day was no joke," she added.

Hargitay recently discussed her close friendship with Brunson during an appearance on *Today With Jenna & Sheinelle*, calling him "my friend, my inspiration." The actress shared how she looked to the NBA all-star to find courage for her Broadway debut.

"I was so terrified to do my show," Hargitay said. "I just thought about him and his inspiration and his humility and his work ethic to say, 'You can do hard things'... But he is so singular and magnificent. He's a magnificent human."**
