Emily Byles, a mother of two, was allegedly attacked with scissors by her fiancé, Zachary Velasquez, who was later arrested. Byles’ 11-year-old daughter dialed 911 and informed the officials about her mother’s condition after she was attacked earlier this month.
According to a probable cause statement, “Officers had to make forced entry into the bedroom after hearing the victim yelling from inside the bedroom.”

“The victim advised officers that the defendant was trying to kill her. Upon entering the bedroom, officers observed the victim laying down on her back covered in blood,” police stated.
Opening up about the incident, Byles said in an interview, “He wasn’t trying to just hurt me. He was trying to end my life,” adding, “Completely mortified that someone that says he loves me and would protect me would just literally try to murder me.”
After surviving a violent assault, Byles has launched afundraiser, where she alleged that she was severely beaten by her fiancé and that she “was stabbed multiple times.”
Byles mentioned that her artery was cut. “I was not supposed to survive, but by God’s grace I did. Since that night, our home has been left unlivable, with too much blood to even clean up,” Byles wrote, recalling the incident.

The fundraiser will help Emily find a safe 2-bedroom place for her two daughters. “She needs her mom and little sister, and I need to bring my girls home to a safe place where we can begin healing together,” she continued.
The Glendale woman also documented the incident on Facebook along with her fundraiser links. “3 weeks ago today, the most horrifying night occurred. Please keep the girls and me in your thoughts and prayers to help the girls and me overcome this and get the GoFundMe back on track. I’m more than halfway to my goal,” the caption on her Facebook post read.
