Hoda Kotb is extending her stay as a stand-in host on the "Today" show as the search for Savannah Guthrie's missing mother enters a third week.
Guthrie, who usually hosts "Today" alongside Craig Melvin, has been absent since it was announced that her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, was taken against her will from her Arizona home earlier this month. Nancy Guthrie was last seen Jan. 31, and a massive manhunt is now underway, looping in both local and federal authorities, who are working around the clock to locate both her and her alleged abductors.
Returning to the desk of the NBC morning show Feb. 16, Kotb kicked off another week of hosting by sharing the messages of support she has received from fans amid the search for Nancy Guthrie.

"I was walking through the airport yesterday, I was just flying back here. The number of people who came up and said, one thing they kept repeating, which just struck me is, 'She's like all of our moms. She's like all of our moms. Tell her we're praying. Tell her we're here,'" Kotb said. "And I think that's so important. It's touched everybody."
Kotb exited her longtime gig hosting "Today" in January 2025, announcing that she wanted to spend more time with her family and work on growing her wellness brand. She has returned amid Guthrie's extended absence.

"Today" show host Savannah Guthrie's 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, was seemingly abducted from her home outside Tucson, Arizona, in the early hours of Feb. 1, 2026. Authorities released photos and videos on Feb. 10, of a potential suspect who was caught tampering with a camera on her front door on the morning of her disappearance.
Nancy Guthrie, whose health her family has described as fragile, was allegedly kidnapped earlier this month. She was first reported missing Sunday, Feb. 1, after a friend called the family, concerned that she had not shown up for church. A reward of $100,000 has been offered for information leading to her recovery, double the initial reward of $50,000.
Doorbell footage released by authorities shows a person arriving at the house in the wee hours of Feb. 1, after she had been dropped off at home by a family member. In the footage previously released by FBI Director Kash Patel, the suspect – described as a "male, approximately 5'9"-5'10" tall, with an average build," – walks up to Guthrie's home, head down, wearing a dark zip-up jacket, light pants, a backpack and what appears to be a weapon in a holster hanging around his waist.
Law enforcement has asked anyone with information to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or tips.fbi.gov, the Pima County Sheriff's Department (520-351-4900) or 88-CRIME.
