With every awards show, you can expect a few things: Beautiful outfits, acceptance speeches that are too long, awkward bits, and a few moments that might just make you cry. The 2026 Golden Globes was no exception, delivering a night that Hollywood will never forget and that viewers will... well, probably forget. But that doesn't mean there weren't some memorable moments worth celebrating! We're here to walk you through all of it — the things we'll remember, and the ones we're already trying to delete from our brains. (You can check out the full Golden Globes winners list here.)

BEST: Nikki Glaser's monologue

Nikki Glaser Golden Globes 2026

Nikki Glaser hosts the 2026 Golden Globes.

Nikki Glaser knows how to tell a joke. She's proved it many times, including as last year's Golden Globes host. And this year, Glaser's opening monologue included a number of great zingers, whether she was giving the Justice Department the award for "best editing" or asking George Clooney to troubleshoot her watery Nespresso. She even managed to do the unthinkable — deliver a Leonardo DiCaprio bit that wasn't about the age of his girlfriends. Sorry, a Leonardo DiCaprio bit that wasn't JUST about the age of his girlfriends. In fairness, her joke did start there, but she quickly explained that it was because "we don't know anything else about you, man," aside from the fact that his favorite food — according to his 1991 *Teen Beat *interview — is "pasta, pasta, and more pasta."

Anyone who manages to slip in a *Teen Beat *reference is doing it right.

BEST: Teyana Taylor's incredible speech

Teyana Taylor accepts her award at the 2026 Golden Globes.

This blurb could really just read: Teyana Taylor won!!! But believe it or not, it gets better. Not only did Taylor take home her first Golden Globe for her performance in *One Battle After Another*, but she delivered one of the best speeches of the night, which started with her playfully pointing out the very low sparkly bow on the back of her dress and then quickly switched to her telling her children, "Y'all better be off them damn phones and watching me right now."

All jokes aside, she ended things on an inspiring note, saying, "To my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space."

Have you grabbed your tissues yet?

WORST: The nominee announcements

Sterling K. Brown is announced as a nominee at the 2026 Golden Globes

Sterling K. Brown is announced as a nominee at the 2026 Golden Globes.

Okay, there's trying something new and then there's just being dumb. If one thing really doesn't need to change at awards shows, it's the very straightforward tradition of showing the nominees faces as their names are announced. But this year, for some reason, the Globes decided to make the nominees' faces smaller so that they could... drop a location pin on where they are in the room??? What do we care where they're sitting in relation to the stage? It's useless, it looks stupid, and half the time, it's delayed. No, thanks.

BEST: Where is our Smartless movie?!

Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett present at the 2026 Golden Globes

Sean Hayes, Will Arnett, and Jason Bateman present at the 2026 Golden Globes.

To state the obvious: The *Smartless* hosts have incredible chemistry. For years, Sean Hayes, Jason Bateman, and Will Arnett have delivered hours of hilarious banter on their podcast, but seeing them present on the Globes stage has only made us love them more.

Yes, it was just a silly bit about how some people don't like Bateman but it was funny nonetheless. Particularly when Hayes said he loved *Ozark*, to which Bateman responded, "What was it about?" Hayes' response? "It was about three seasons too long."

When can we get these three front and center in a comedy?!

WORST: The announcers

Kevin Frazier and Marc Malkin as announcers at the Golden Globes 2026

Kevin Frazier and Marc Malkin as announcers at the 2026 Golden Globes.

To put it simply: The live announcers at this year's show just... didn't work. The Globes tasked *Entertainment Tonight *host Kevin Frazier and *Variety*'s senior culture & events editor Marc Malkin with providing commentary during the sometimes very long pause while a winner hugs their loved ones and then makes their way to the stage. But if Malkin wasn't fumbling over his words, he was providing such amazing insights as saying that winner Timothée Chalamet recently thanked girlfriend Kylie Jenner at the Critics Choice Awards: "Will he thank Kylie Jenner again tonight? We're about to find out!"

Yeah, we could've done without it.**

BEST: Noah Wyle wishes his wife happy birthday

Yes, Noah Wyle won Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series for his incredible work on *The Pitt*. And yes, he did it with fellow *ER *alum George Clooney in the room. And YES, he delivered a wonderful acceptance speech, in which he thanked all healthcare workers. But one moment stands out, and that's the moment at the end of Wyle's speech when he not only revealed that it's his wife's birthday, but told her, "I hope you enjoy your party."

Did he just manage to make the entire Golden Globes all about his wife's birthday? Now that's a good husband if we've ever seen one.

BEST: Rose Byrne calls out her bearded dragon

Rose Byrne wins at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards

Rose Byrne wasn't expecting to win for her work in *If I Had Legs I'd Kick You*, so when she took the stage, she wasn't exactly prepared — something that either leads to chaos or greatness. In Byrne's case, it was greatness. Not only did she give her parents a shout-out for buying Paramount+ so that they could stream the show from Australia, but she ended by revealing that her husband, Bobby Cannavale, missed the show in order to attend a reptile expo in New Jersey because "we're getting a bearded dragon." Stars... they're just like us.

WORST: A not-so-golden musical moment

Fran Drescher and Nikki Glaser at the 2026 Golden Globes

As a host, it's rare that every bit is going to work. And as much as we enjoyed Glaser's opening monologue, not everything she prepared was a hit. We're talking about that cringey musical moment. The idea seemed simple enough: She was going to sing a song about how the Globes didn't want her to sing, all set to the tune of "Golden" from *KPop Demon Hunters*. But thanks to some small wardrobe issues and then some bigger mic issues — and the biggest issue of it just not entirely connecting — the song was a flop. But hey, at least Fran Drescher was there to tell Glaser, "Your voice is so annoying." Get it?

BEST: Things get...heated

Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams present at the 2026 Golden Globes

If we're being honest, the *Heated Rivalry* stars were going to be on our "best moment" list no matter what they said or did. But don't worry, they did more than just show up to earn this mention (even though their presence was enough!).

Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie took the stage to present and immediately winked at the nudity in their hit series when Williams tried to calm Storrie's nerves by telling him to "picture everyone in the audience...you know."

Storrie responded, "I don't really know if that works considering everyone has seen us...you know."

Then again, everyone in the room hasn't seen *Heated Rivalry*. But as Storrie put it, "Their trainers have and their moms have and their daughters have." AND WE LOVE IT! **

P.S. The weird UFC bit before they took the stage gets an honorable mention for worst.

BEST: Wanda Sykes accepts on Ricky Gervais' behalf

Wanda Sykes presents at the 2026 Golden Globes

Wanda Sykes didn't pull any punches while she announced the nominees for Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television, particularly when it came to Ricky Gervais.

Before announcing the winner, she joked, "Ricky Gervais, I love you for not being here," before adding, "No, I love you, Ricky, because if you win, I get to accept the award on your behalf, and you're going to thank God and the trans community."

And when Gervais did win? Sykes went through on the bit, thanking God and the trans community on his behalf.**

BEST: Rhea Seehorn wins!

Rhea Seehorn wins at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards

Rhea Seehorn accepts her award at the 2026 Golden Globes.

For years, *Better Call Saul *fans watched as Rhea Seehorn was passed over despite her astonishing portrayal of Kim Wexler on the beloved drama. She lost two Emmys during her time on the show, and furthermore, was never even nominated for a Golden Globe. But that's all changed. Thanks to *Pluribus*, which *Saul *creator Vince Gilligan wrote with Seehorn in mind, the actress has taken home a much-deserved Golden Globe for her work as Carol Sturka, a best-selling author and one of the last (still human) humans on Earth. Things might be a mess for Carol, but they're surely looking up for Seehorn!

BEST: Jessie Buckley thanks a grip for making soup

Jessie Buckley wins for 'Hamnet' at the 2026 Golden Globes.

You never know what to expect from an acceptance speech, a fact that *Hamnet *star Jessie Buckley proved when accepting her award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama.

After giving a shout-out to the "400 extras" on the Chloé Zhao film set, Buckley shifted her focus to a specific crew member, specifically a grip from Poland. Buckley recalled how she found him behind his truck one day chopping up potatoes and onions and meat to make a soup in the cast iron pot he brought all the way from home.

"This soup started turning up on set. It was delicious," Buckley said, before thanking him "for bringing your pot to set."

BEST: "Knock em dead, Batman"

Don Cheadle and George Clooney on stage at the 2026 Golden Globes

There's nothing quite like an *Oceans Eleven *reunion at any awards ceremony! While George Clooney was getting ready to present the last award of the night for Best Picture — Drama, he was joined by his former costar Don Cheadle, who asked the actor, "Did you win?" Of course, Clooney — who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy — didn't win this particular evening, but as he reminded Cheadle, he has won in the past and no, it was not *that* long ago.

To prove his point, Cheadle then asked best actor winner Timothée Chalamet his age — spoiler: he's 30 — at which point he told Clooney, "He was 3 the last time you won."

When Clooney attempted to end the conversation by saying he was just going to do the nominations now, Cheadle slapped him on the ass and cracked, "Knock 'em dead, Batman."

We'd say we'd like to see a new movie with these two, but it sounds like we're already getting it.

BEST: Nikki Glaser's sweet tribute to Rob Reiner

While closing out the 83rd annual Golden Globes, host Nikki Glaser gave a subtle nod to the late Rob Reiner, one month after he and his wife, Michele, were found dead in their Brentwood, Calif., home.

In the final moments of the ceremony, the comedian sported a cap emblazoned with Spinal Tap, the name of the fictional band that was the subject of Reiner's iconic 1984 mockumentary*This Is Spinal Tap.*

"Well, that's our show. This one went to 11," said Glaser referencing a classic line from the film. "Thank you guys for an amazing night, and I hope we found the line between clever and stupid. A good Chalamet to you all! Good night!"
