The Frasier icon, 70, recently welcomed his eighth child, a son named Christopher, with wife Kayte Walsh in October. And as he told E! News in an interview shared Saturday, December 13, the timing couldn't be sweeter.
"My sons love Christmas," Grammer shared, explaining that his younger kids still revel in the magic of the season. "They love decorating the tree. I'm hanging the lights. We're still a very traditional family in that way, everybody's very happy about Santa Claus."
The Cheers alum and Walsh, 46—who share Faith, 13, Kelsey, 11, and Auden, 9—are leaning fully into the festive chaos this December, especially with a newborn in the mix. "We're looking forward to a great visit from the man in red," he said. "It's very exciting." And while the family typically hosts a lively New Year's gathering, Grammer admitted they'll be skipping the big bash this year, noting that the plan is to stay home and "just really sit around with the kids and spend time with them."
"This year with a new baby in the house, I think they'll have a renewed sense of occasion," he noted of his other kid.
Grammer is also dad to four adult children from previous relationships: daughters Spencer, 42, and Greer, 33, as well as sons Mason, 24, and Jude, 21

The actor has been open about how meaningful it feels to become a father again later in life. "It's wonderful, it's absolutely wonderful," he told TMZ, adding, "You forget what a blessing it is to have a small child in my life…it does not get better than this." He credits age with bringing a deeper sense of calm and clarity to parenting, saying there's a level of "wisdom" that comes with experience.
And even though his kids may be too young to fully grasp Dad's decades-long sitcom legacy, they do recognize one thing: Marvel bragging rights. Grammer laughed while recalling their reaction after learning he played Beast in the X-Men films. "They finally came up and said, 'Do you really play Beast?'" he said. "It was the first time I was cool."
With baby Christopher settling, Grammer says the whole family is "ecstatic." As he told PEOPLE in November, "We're all really having a great time. It's really lovely."
