Not to cause widespread panic, but Widespread Panic dropped some exciting news this past week.
On their Instagram and official website, the rock band announced that they will be performing two shows at the Coca-Cola Ampitheater in Birmingham, Alabama, on April 17 and 18, 2026. The last time Widespread Panic played in Birmingham was two nights at the Legacy Arena's BJCC in February 2018, marking eight years since they last performed in this city.
Though it's been almost a decade since the band performed in Birmingham, they are no strangers to the state of Alabama. In May 2022, they did a three-night run at the Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville, with a finale celebrating departed members. They then announced another three-night stand at the same venue for July 28-30, 2023.

Formed in 1986 in Athens, Georgia by John Bell and Michael Houser while students at UGA, Widespread Panic is a rock band known for blending Southern rock, blues, funk and improvisational jazz in their music. The group built a loyal fanbase through touring and extended live performances, becoming a staple of the jam-band scene in the 1990s. Albums like Everyday, Space Wrangler and Til the Medicine Takes helped push the band into the mainstream.
The current lineup includes Bell, Dave Schools, Duane Trucks, Domingo "Sunny" Ortiz, John "JoJo" Hermann and guitarist Jimmy Herring. Houser unfortunately passed away due to pancreatic cancer in 2002. In 2024, the band released two studio albums: Snake Oil King and Hailbound Queen. This year, they released four live albums from various performances around the United States in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Tickets for Widespread Panic's Birmingham shows will go on sale on Fridayon their official website. Two-day tickets are available, but limited.
