A SANDWICH chain has been reduced from having over 50 locations to just one following its latest closure.

J's Steaks and Subs has been an iconic chain in parts of Pennsylvania since the late 1960s, but customers have been left with just one location as the company receives criticism from fans.

The location in Bethlehem, PA, closed earlier this year following a move out of a shopping center that has been branded 'a big mistake'[/caption]

The J's Subs in Bethlehem shuttered in March after moving out of the Stefko Center in 2017.

Customers were informed of the decision with a sign posted on the door saying, "Closed permanently" followed by a sad face.

A glimpse through the window of the shuttered shop revealed that the chairs and tables had been pushed to the sides.

There had also been specials on offer as the location went out of business and a goodbye message inside.

"As always thank you for choosing J's!" it read, per WFMZ.

"We will miss you all."

Following the loss, J's Subs fans are left with the location in Northampton as their only place to go for their favorite sandwiches and burgers.

Edwin Lozano, the owner of the company the chain operates under has explained that the closure was due to a lack of time.

The manager of the Bethlehem location retired and Lozano who owns an area brewery said he has "no time to run both," when speaking to Lehigh Valley Live.

Daniel Strain who owns the Northampton franchise has confirmed to the outlet through his wife Candace that there are no plans to shutter the last remaining location that he has owned since 1986.

On the Northampton site's Facebook page, fans have begged for it to remain.

"Food and service are awesome. Prices good. Just ate there last night. Love this place. Please don't ever close," one person said on Facebook.

Strain's son-in-law, Brandon Clawson, who is the manager of the last J's Subs told fans "nothing's changing."

"We're the last J's standing, and nothing's changing here. It's business as usual for us," he told WMFZ.

However, others have said that the once "legendary spot" is not what it once was.

"It's nothing like it used to be," another Facebook user wrote.

"The Northampton location is a complete letdown.

"I used to love the cheeseburger subs when I was a kid. And their fries were always perfectly crispy."

Meanwhile, the shuttered location has been slammed for making a "big mistake" despite claims it shuttered due to retirement and time.

"They shouldn't have moved. Since they left the shopping center, I forgot they existed," a former customer said.

"Big mistake on their part."

Despite this criticism, Lozano who bought the brand in 2015, hopes to re-open some of the shuttered locations in the future.

"I am keeping the J's franchise and hopefully will reopen if/when I get time," he told Lehigh Valley Live.
