Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has been dropped for Cameroon's crucial Africa Cup of Nations conflict towards Gambia on Tuesday.

Onana missed Cameroon's Group C opener towards Guinea last week after a delayed flight meant that he was late joining up with the squad.

The 27-year-old then started Cameroon's second recreation in Group C but was criticised for his efficiency following a 3-1 defeat to reigning AFCON champions Senegal.

Cameroon head coach Rigobert Track refused in charge Onana for his sub-par show towards Senegal however the United goalkeeper has now been benched for his nation's last group recreation towards Gambia.

Cameroon need a win towards Gambia to stand any probability of qualifying for the knockout stage as the most effective third-placed teams within the event.

Cameroon's outcome will also have an impact on Ghana's future in the tournament.

The Black Stars conceded two injury-time objectives to attract 2-2 with Mozambique on Monday.

Ghana will need Cameroon to draw with Gambia and in addition require Zambia to lose to Morocco of their last match in Group F on Thursday.

Additionally they need DR Congo to beat Tanzania in their remaining fixture in Group F.
