The Prince and Princess of Wales hosted the second garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace on May 8.

Kate wore a custom Self-Portrait look and a vintage hat for the occasion, along with pearl jewelry from the collections of Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana.

The future queen wore a favorite pair of pearl earrings from the late monarch, and also reached for a three-strand pearl bracelet from her late mother-in-law.

For her first Buckingham Palace garden party appearance of 2026, Kate Middleton accessorized with pearl jewelry that paid tribute to both Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana.

While the Princess of Wales often wears Queen Elizabeth’s Bahrain Pearl Drop earrings—given to the then-Princess Elizabeth in 1947 as a wedding present—the future queen wears Princess Diana’s three-strand pearl bracelet designed by Nigel Milne with less frequency. Diana originally wore this pearl and diamond bracelet at an event for the Birthright charity at the Savoy Hotel in London in March 1989. In October of that same year, she wore the bracelet to attend a performance of The Masked Ball at the London Coliseum, and, perhaps most famously, the bracelet was on her wrist in November 1989, when she wore her iconic “Elvis” gown by Catherine Walker—along with her favorite tiara, the Queen Mary Lover’s Knot—for a banquet in Hong Kong.

Pearls have become a staple in Kate’s wardrobe. Along with her pearl accessories, at the garden party on May 8 the Princess of Wales wore a custom Self-Portrait look, according to the fashion site What Kate Wore. According to the site, the top appears to be from the brand’s Cream 3D Flower Polka Dot Mididress, which is a wool-blend design with a double-breasted look, three quarter length sleeves, and an oversized flower on the bodice. The skirt of Kate’s bespoke look seems to be from the lower portion of the Belted Polka Dot Pleated Mididress, per What Kate Wore.

Atop the Princess of Wales’s head was a vintage hat from The Hat Circle, specifically a design by Mitzi Lorenz with a black floral embellishment and an oversized black net bow at the back, according to What Kate Wore. She carried a clutch by the Australian brand Forever New and wore a favorite pair of heels, the toffee-colored Ralph Lauren Celia Pumps, for the garden party, which she hosted alongside husband Prince William.

The future queen wore her brunette hair partially pulled back—perfect to catch a glimpse of Queen Elizabeth’s Bahrain Pearl Drop earrings. The set was given to the future monarch by the Hakim of Bahrain and was created from a cache of seven pearls, per Tatler. The earrings are made of round diamond studs, from which round- and baguette-cut diamonds in an Art Deco style are suspended, plus two of the Bahrain pearls.

Both Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana wore the earrings frequently throughout their lives. Since 2016, Kate has been the exclusive wearer of them, and this is the third time this year alone that the Princess of Wales has reached for them. She also wore them in March to the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey, and then in April for the annual Easter Sunday church service at St. George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Kate often honors the late queen through her jewelry and also frequently channels Diana sartorially. “I think we have seen lots of examples where the reference is very intentional, and I think that Kate uses fashion to pay tribute to Diana in a very positive way,” Bethan Holt, fashion director at The Telegraph, previously told People.

Angel Reese makes Atlanta Dream debut: Live updates, stats, highlights

On Saturday, Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese begins the 2026 WNBA season in a new uniform.

After two seasons with the Chicago Sky, Reese was traded to the Dream during the offseason. The move starts a new journey for the two-time All-Star who has set her sights on helping Atlanta do something it's never done: win a championship.

“There’s no ceiling. I watched them from afar last year and then being able to see the success, that’s the reason why I wanted to be able to come here, because I thought I can help them in ways and they can help me in ways," Reese said. "Being able to go 30-14 under Coach Karl (Smesko) for one year is incredible and just being able to see what they were able to do. I think there’s just so much more that we can do. They weren’t satisfied."

Smesko admitted during the Dream's training camp that the expectations for the team are "sky high," and naturally, that puts a lot of expectations on Reese, as well. However, the Dream coach expressed that as much as he respects Reese's drive and how she wants to get better, patience is needed as she settles in and continues to grow as a player.

"From defense to rebounding to handling the ball ― just being able to drive by people ― she just can do so many things. It's just being able to utilize her to what she does best and then just keep expanding her game where she feels more comfortable shooting it, catching it, shot-faking and taking it to the rim. Things of that nature." Smesko said. "It'll be a process. ... I do think that you'll see a lot of growth over the season just by her attitude and willingness to work to get better."

"She has been exceptional in practice. She's really been eager to learn and get better. She's just been super motivated and really super enjoyable to coach," Smesko said of Reese pregame.

The High Court has allowed the son of the Marquess of Bath, who was born to a surrogate mother in America, to be potentially added to his beneficiaries.

Ceawlin Thynn, the 8th Marquess of Bath, is the owner of the £200 million Longleat estate in Wiltshire.

He and his wife, Marchioness Emma Thynn, have two young children: John, born in 2014, and Henry, born in 2016.

Henry, who is genetically the couple’s child, was born to a surrogate mother in the United States after the Viscountess suffered serious health issues during her first pregnancy. She was the first member of the British aristocracy to have a child via surrogacy.

The couple sought the High Court’s “blessing” for Henry to possibly inherit a share of three family trusts, due to “uncertainty” over whether he falls within the class of beneficiaries due to the nature of his birth.

In a ruling published on Thursday, Judge Paul Matthews said: “The first defendant [Lord Bath] and his wife consider it would be unfair and unfortunate if their second son and his issue were excluded from benefit.”

He added that at this stage, the trustees only wanted the power to add Henry as a beneficiary, but not to exercise it yet.

The judge, sitting in Bristol, said: “This is to avoid any problems with US tax, as he was born in America to an American surrogate mother.

“A decision can then be taken at a later stage, in the light of appropriate advice, whether to exercise the power to add him.”

Judge Matthews added that at an earlier hearing, Henry Legge KC, who represented the trustees, said Henry could reasonably expect to inherit after his elder brother, “in the same way as any future legitimate naturally born sibling”.

He continued: “He could also reasonably expect to take priority over any such subsequently born sibling.

“A certain amount of equality can nevertheless be attained.

“The first defendant [Lord Bath] would like that to be done.

“The present proposed advance on new trusts will achieve that object, and will be a material benefit to the first defendant as the father of both boys, who will not have to make provision for Henry out of his own resources.

“Mr Legge says that the trustees are certainly entitled to form that view and that they have done so.”

Judge Matthews concluded he was “satisfied” that the court should approve the proposal and that the trustees have the power to do what they propose.

WWE Backlash will emanate from the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida on Saturday evening, and the reported match order has been revealed by Fightful Select ahead of the show going live at 6 p.m. EST. There are five matches set for the card, two being title matches, and John Cena is set to deliver a big announcement, as well.

According to Fightful Select, as previously reported, the two matches set to take place on ESPN 2 ahead of the show moving to the ESPN app (in the United States, at least) are Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker and the United States Championship match pitting Trick Williams against Sami Zayn, in that order.

Danhausen and his yet-to-be-named partner will then face The Miz and Kit Wilson. Asuka and IYO SKY will be after the tag match, and Cena's announcement will follow. Predictably, the World Heavyweight Championship match between Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu will headline the show.

- Martin Short has opened up about the recent death of his daughter, Katherine Short.

- "It's been a nightmare for the family," he said in his first sit-down interview since her death.

- Katherine died by suicide on Feb. 23 after her father lost his friends Catherine O'Hara, Rob Reiner, and Diane Keaton.

Martin Short has broken his silence on the recent death of his daughter.

After Katherine Short was discovered dead at 42 in her Hollywood Hills home on Feb. 23, a representative for the *Only Murders in the Building *star expressed Martin's "profound grief."

"The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time," the representative said. "Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world."

Two days later, Short's cause of death was confirmed as a result of suicide. The comedian has since kept a low profile as he prepares to release *Marty, Life Is Short*, a new documentary about him, on May 12.

Now, Short has given his first sit-down interview since his daughter's death, opening up to *CBS Sunday Morning *correspondent Tracy Smith.

"It's been a nightmare for the family," he told her on Sunday's episode. "But the understanding [is] that mental health and cancer, like [with] my wife, are both diseases — and sometimes with diseases they are terminal."

Martin Short addresses his daughter's recent death in an interview on 'CBS Sunday Morning' on May 10, 2026.

Several deaths have rocked Short's life recently. The actor has also lost his friends and collaborators Diane Keaton, Rob Reiner, and Catherine O'Hara, all within the span of a few months. Meanwhile, *Marty, Life Is Short *functions as a love letter to his late wife, Nancy, or Nan, who died of ovarian cancer in 2010.

"My daughter fought for a long time with extreme mental health, borderline personality disorder, other things, and did the best she could, until she couldn't," Short said in the interview. "So Nan's last words to me were, 'Mart, let me go.' And she was just saying, "Dad, let me go.'"

"If I wasn't going to talk about this, then I would have pushed the documentary, because it is — listen, it's called *Marty, Life Is Short*," the actor said. "And suddenly, last October, I lost Diane Keaton on the same day I lost my sister-in-law, Nancy's sister, to cancer. Then Rob and Michelle [Reiner, his wife] have been my lifelong friends for 40 years … And then Catherine O'Hara and then my daughter. I mean, it's been in four months. Staggering."

When Smith asked how Short has been able to comprehend and cope with the losses, he responded, "You can't. You just have to breathe in, breathe out."

Still, the comedian, who has "never been in therapy," described how he has at least tried to process his grief. "What I do is, I dictate into my phone and then I transcribe it and I look at it and rewrite it and put it away," he said. "You find if you're repeating your same things, maybe you're moving on a little bit."

Short concluded the interview by offering some insight. "I think we all are in denial about our limited time in this earth," he said. "It's very difficult to accept it... But the more you accept it, I think it does lift you and make you feel that this is a complicated little journey, life. And the more we approach it with wisdom, probably the happier we'll be."

- Britney Spears has broken her silence after pleading guilty to reckless driving and checking into rehab.

- The singer opened up to her fans about her "spiritual journey" on May 9.

- Spears said her recent troubles are "a blessing in disguise" in the caption of a photo of her holding a snake.

Britney Spears has broken her silence after months of personal turbulence.

The pop icon has been relatively quiet on Instagram, where she usually maintains an active profile full of inspirational messages, dancing videos, blunt responses to her critics, and other musings. In March, however, Spears was arrested on suspicion of a DUI, kicking off a chain of events that led her to submit a guilty plea and enter rehab.

Nearly two weeks after she reportedly checked out of the treatment facility, she opened up about her "spiritual journey" in a confessional post on Saturday.

"Went to the pet store with my kids and look at what a beautiful baby snake this is," Spears wrote over a photo of a small albino Burmese python coiled in her outstretched palm. "Snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck."

"I'm so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey," the singer continued, summing up her recent string of setbacks as "all a blessing in disguise."

Spears concluded the post by noting, "I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself… It's a never-ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up, and say, 'Wow, God, I think that was you' and smile on!!!!"

The pop star's recent troubles started on March 4, when she was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol officers in Ventura County, Calif., on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was released the following morning and officially charged with a DUI on April 30.

A representative for the Ventura County DA told EW at the time that Spears would be offered a "wet reckless deal." Because she had a low blood alcohol level, does not have a prior DUI history, was not involved in an accident, and did not sustain or cause any injuries at the scene of her arrest, she was allowed to plead guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol and/or drugs without having to serve jail time.

Spears eventually took that deal, pleading guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol, drugs, or both on May 4. She was ordered to serve 12 months of probation with credit for any time spent in custody.

Wet reckless agreements also typically mandate that the individual complete a DUI class and pay state-specified fines and fees.
