Key Points -

United Parcel Service is nearing the end of a long turnaround effort.

The company is telling investors that the second half of 2026 will be the start of the upturn.

10 stocks we like better than United Parcel Service ›

United Parcel Service's (NYSE: UPS) stock has fallen 50% since hitting a high in early 2022. The stock, however, is up 30% from its lows in Oct. 2025. The market is starting to believe the company's turnaround plan is gaining traction. If you wait too long to buy it, you may miss out on the investment opportunity.

UPS isn't expecting much from the second quarter

Buying UPS before July 15 should get you in before the company reports second-quarter earnings. Those earnings aren't expected to be great reading. But that's not the point. The key here is that UPS has been telling investors that the first half of 2026 would be weak, with the second half coming in stronger.

In other words, the end of the second quarter will be the inflection point. It will be the point in time when the industrial giant's financial results start to turn around. There are already important signs of progress, with a steady increase in revenue per piece in the U.S. business being a key sign of the company's early turnaround success.

Not a great year, but an important change of direction

To be fair, the full year is likely to be roughly flat with 2025, with revenue and operating margin barely budging (though revenue per piece is expected to keep rising, ending up mid-single digits for the year). However, the company believes the trends will shift between the first and second half.

In the first half of 2026, revenues are expected to fall, with margins remaining under pressure. But in the second half, revenues are expected to start growing, with margins improving. The company didn't materially alter its view when it reported first-quarter 2026 earnings in late April. In fact, the CEO doubled down, telling investors that the turnaround effort was still on track. I believe there will be a similarly positive update when the company reports second-quarter earnings.

More aggressive investors should consider buying now

Risk-averse investors probably won't want to buy UPS, given the turnaround story it is working on. However, for more aggressive investors, that turnaround appears to be coming to an end. The business upturn will come, if management is correct, in the second half of the year. The stock is already moving higher, but if you act before the company reports second-quarter earnings, you can still get in before the rest of Wall Street catches on to the change in direction.

SINGAPORE, June 8 (Reuters) - Asian markets were poised to fall on Monday after Wall Street's nine-week winning streak ended in heavy tech selling, while Israeli strikes ‌on Beirut sent oil and the dollar higher.

Futures and Friday's U.S. exchange-traded fund ‌moves pointed to sharp drops in Japan and South Korea and S&P 500 futures were down 0.2% in early Asia trade.

The Nasdaq had dropped 4.2% on Friday, with selling concentrated in semiconductor stocks after a hot jobs report ramped up expectations for Federal Reserve interest rate hikes, slamming the brakes on what has been a sparkling AI-led rally.

Two-year Treasury yields rose more than 11 basis points ‌on Friday and benchmark 10-year Treasury futures were about five ticks lower early on Monday morning in Asia.

"The AI-drives-everything narrative frayed last week," said Bob Savage, head of markets macro strategy at BNY.

"Whether this is a healthy pause in the nine-week equity rally or a top remains the key question. The IPO focus on SpaceX and Anthropic is part of the pause – whether to make room for the new market cap or to rethink value."

The week ahead is ‌headlined by the giant SpaceX listing, expected to price on Thursday and trade on Friday, but will also have inflation in focus with U.S. consumer price data due on Wednesday and central bank meetings in Canada and Europe.

Last week, bitcoin notched its heaviest weekly drop since the collapse of crypto exchange FTX in late 2022, falling about 16%. It was hovering ‌just shy of $63,000 on Monday.

SpaceX's debut is expected to be followed by other mega IPOs in the coming months from Anthropic and OpenAI, raising so much money that brokers are nervous it could draw down other ‌assets.

The Mideast situation also remains delicate, and Brent crude futures were up about 2.6% to $95.45 a barrel on Monday morning after an Israeli attack on Beirut prompted Iran to direct a salvo of missiles at Israeli targets.

OPEC+ agreed on Sunday to the fourth ‌increase in its oil output targets in as many months.

In currency trade the dollar was firm and holding above 160 yen and pushed the Australian dollar to $0.7038. The euro hovered at $1.1518.

DENVER (AP) — Gary Sánchez homered for the first time since April 14 as part of a seven-run sixth inning, rookie Shane Drohan pitched efficiently into the seventh and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Colorado Rockies 12-4 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep.

The Brewers finished with 10 extra-base hits. That included two triples (one by Andrew Vaughn, his first since 2024), seven doubles (two each from Jackson Chourio and Garrett Mitchell) and Sánchez's sixth homer of the season.

Milwaukee's eruption in the sixth turned a 3-1 deficit into a comfortable cushion. The Brewers had the first seven batters in the decisive inning reach base before an out was recorded. Sánchez had the big blow with a two-run shot. He nearly went deep again in the seventh, but the wind kept it in the yard.

Drohan (3-1) turned in his longest stint of the season, going 6 1/3 innings and allowing three runs. He threw an economical 83 pitches.

The Rockies' fourth straight loss spoiled a memorable moment for Rockies lefty and Denver native Kyle Freeland, who became the franchise's all-time leader in innings pitched. Freeland broke the mark belonging to sinkerballer Aaron Cook in the fifth.

Freeland went five innings — he now has 1,313 1/3 for his career — and surrendered three runs. Rockies reliever Jaden Hill (0-2) allowed five runs and recorded only one out.

The sun played a factor in the first when Brewers second baseman Brice Turang lost track of Willi Castro's high fly and shielded his head as the ball fell in for a hit. Castro scored on Ezequiel Tovar's double to center during the two-run inning.

Up Next

Brewers: Begin a three-game series in Las Vegas against the Athletics on Monday. Lefty Kyle Harrison (7-1, 1.57) is slated to start the first game.

Rockies: Open a three-game series with the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday.

NASCAR throws red flag for a wreck at Michigan involving Christopher Bell and Chase Elliott that was so violent it bent the wall

A wreck involving Christopher Bell and Chase Elliott was so violent that it forced NASCAR to red flag Sunday's race at Michigan with 50 laps to go.

Elliott and Bell were racing for second place after a restart and Elliott got loose underneath Bell. The contact sent Bell into the wall at a near 45-degree angle. It's one of the hardest hits you'll see. Thankfully both drivers immediately climbed from their cars after the crash.

"Totally my fault, I feel really bad for Bell," Elliott said.

Bell's hit was so hard that the wall was dented where he hit. NASCAR tracks are equipped with SAFER barriers — a dual wall that has foam on the inside to help absorb force. The outer wall bent inwards because of the impact of Bell's car.

"I don't think you'll see a car hit the wall at a harder, faster impact than there," Dale Earnhardt Jr. said on the Amazon Prime broadcast.

The caution flag was the 10th of the race and tied a Michigan track record. William Byron was ahead of Bell and Elliott when the wreck happened.

4-star EDGE K.J. Green snubs Oregon, commits to LSU on official visit

Sometimes the next visit is just the best visit.

That was the case for four-star edge rusher K.J. Green, who visited the Oregon Ducks last weekend before making a trip to Baton Rouge to visit LSU this weekend. Green left Eugene with a positive visit, and the Ducks had every reason to feel like a contender and potentially a frontrunner in the race.

However, Green's trip to LSU went so well that the pass rusher from Stone Mountain, Georgia, decided to lock in his commitment with the Tigers. Green wasn't scheduled to commit until August 8, and it appeared that Green would take all of his visits before making a decision, so the early commitment was a surprise.

Green chose LSU over Oregon, South Carolina and Georgia. He is the No. 48 player and No. 8 edge rusher in the country, per the Rivals Industry Ranking. During his junior season in high school, Green racked up 129 tackles, 40 for a loss, 18 sacks and four forced fumbles. He was named a MaxPreps Junior All-American and was the Region 5-AAA Defensive Player of the Year.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Green profiles very similarly to Nasir Wyatt, who is expected to contribute in a big way for the Ducks this season. Oregon has the No. 9 class in the nation, per Rivals, which includes top-100 player and edge rusher Rashad Streets.

Missing out on Green is a tough loss for the Ducks, but the program could walk away from this weekend's round of official visits with another edge rusher in tow. Keep an eye on three-star Achilles Reyna to potentially commit to the Ducks soon.

- Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Michael Tiddes, the director of *Scary Movie*, take EW inside the making of the film's wild pair of post-credits parodies.

- "Short Hand," a riff on Osgood Perkins' *Longlegs*, and "Brosferatu," a send-up of Robert Eggers' *Nosferatu*, were bumped to the end because they "threw the story off," Marlon says.

- But Tiddes, who's worked with the Wayans for over a decade, notes how with these brothers, "Things fall away, but they don't go away."

**This article contains spoilers for *Scary Movie.***

*Scary Movie*, the latest entry in the beloved horror parody franchise, is overloaded with riffs, digs, plays, and puns on modern cinema. Franchise co-creators and writers Shawn and Marlon Wayans, who have regained control of the franchise 25 years after their last go-around, didn't limit the scope of their latest effort to the horror genre. *Scary Movie *parodies *Ma *alongside *Michael*, *Weapons *alongside *Wicked*. There were, in fact, so many targets to choose from that some of the best jokes had to be held for after the curtain call.

Case in point: the film's two parodies that run during and after the credits: "Brosferatu," a buddy-comedy riff on Robert Eggers' foreboding *Nosferatu*; and "Short Hand," a satirical spin on Osgood Perkins' twisty *Longlegs*.

"I probably could've done six more scenes, or eight more scenes. We had so much stuff," Marlon says during a conversation for **'s* **Scary Movie *cover. Michael Tiddes, the film's director and a longtime Wayans collaborator, likens piecing the film's many interlocking storylines, dozens of characters, and hundreds of jokes together to completing a puzzle, where "the challenge, of course, is creating the connective tissue that kind of makes it a whole movie."

Here's how they did it.

Bill Skarsgard, Nosferatu

Bill Skarsgård in 'Nosferatu'.

"I think the *Nosferatu* scene, 'Brosferatu,' was a part of the movie, but we replaced 'Brosferatu' with Michael Jackson because it was just a way bigger movie," Marlon shares. *Scary Movie *released in theaters on Friday, treating fans after a long hiatus to classically raunchy, Wayans-style send-ups of films like *Get Out*, *Sinners*, and *M3GAN*, all of which were glimpsed in teasers and trailers leading up to the premiere.

Though "Brosferatu" was held back for a surprise appearance during the roll of credits, the Wayans' ingenious parody of the Michael Jackson biopic *Michael*, which hits theaters in April, was teased in advance. Kenan Thompson stars in the self-contained sketch as Jermaine Jackson, trying and failing to mount his own hagiographic tribute piece.

Thompson was the Wayans' first choice for the role. "We wanted to cross universes. The Wayans have always worked with our people, right?" Marlon asks, pointing to an artificial division between the Wayans' sketch comedy series, *In Living Color*, and Thompson's longtime home, *Saturday Night Live*. "We were like, 'Why have two different institutional forces when we could pull from each other?" There's something "lovable about Kenan" in particular, Marlon continues. "He has a silly little look. He always looks like he's up to something. It's like he's in his own head, and he makes himself laugh first."

Another reason to swap "Brosferatru" for "Jermaine" is that the latter "wasn't horror and we were looking for something that wasn't horror-related," Shawn says. "So we picked *Michael*, but we still thought ['Brosferatu'] was really funny. So we said, 'Let's put it as an Easter egg.' And it was the same thing with the Chris Elliott scene with little Damon and Heidi."

'Longlegs' ending explained: Breaking down the last bloody birthday party's twist (and whether Lee is also possessed)

Nicolas Cage in Longlegs

Inside the 'Scary Movie' family reunion for an 'edgy as f---' new era

EW DIGITAL COVER TOUT - Scary Movie

The very same Chris Elliott behind the gnarl-handed mansion keeper Hanson in *Scary Movie 2*, who returns to star in "Short Hand" alongside Damon Wayans Jr. (the son of Marlon and Shawn's brother and *My Wife and Kids *star Damon Wayans) and Thompson's *SNL *buddy Heidi Gardner.

The duo first appear in parodied versions of the *Longlegs *roles originated by Blair Underwood and Maika Monroe midway through *Scary Movie*, standing by as their fellow officers are sent off after a suspicious perp. He's described as a dead ringer for Nicholas Cage's ghastly villain in *Longlegs*, and there Elliott sits at a bus stop, looking as freakish as ever. But the officers descend upon an innocent Black man standing nearby instead.

That scene ends up serving as just a taste of what the Wayans cooked up, as "Short Hand" returns during the credits for a brutal play-by-play send-up of *Longlegs*'* *terrifying interrogation scene. Gardner fits in especially well as one of the new additions to the Wayans ensemble. "We just thought Heidi was hilarious," Marlon says. "We were thinking about that character — it's always about the character. And that character being psychic, but playing it dumb, but still being hilarious," made her a perfect fit.

"We have these bonus scenes. We wanted to put those scenes in. They were really funny," he continues. But in early cuts of the film, the Wayans had to face the fact that they "threw you too much off the story. So you have to make choices. We had to make the choice to put that at the end, when the story was done, and now you could just enjoy it as a sketch. [Heidi] and little Damon had this wonderful chemistry, and she's just special."

Eagle-eyed viewers may also notice that the "Short Hand" scenes are visually distinct from the rest of the film. That was by design. "What's so fun about these movies, and the challenge, is finding an organic way to transition from one to the next, and then how do you bring it back? Bring it to the story and then bring it to the next joke?" Tiddes asks.

"I accomplished that in many, many different ways, from pacing to sound to changing the way I shot different scenes. When I was doing *Longlegs*, I used a lot of very wide-angle lenses," the director of five prior Wayans features explains. But for a later fight scene that casts Anna Faris' Cindy Campbell in a *John Wick*-esque avenger role, "I was going towards anamorphics," he says, referring to specialty lenses that compress images, allowing for wider aspect ratios without cropping.

Tiddes wanted each parody to "feel like its own movie," but held one goal above all others: for the film to possess "momentum and energy. I wanted you to feel like you were on this ride, to feel like the jokes were coming at you, and you had no idea where they were coming from."

The result is one of the most densely loaded parody films in years, one that requires a special caveat: don't stop watching once the credits start to roll.

Several A-list celebrities invited to President Donald Trump's UFC cage fight on the White House lawn later this month have no plans to show up, according to a new report, becoming the latest group to snub a presidential celebration of America's 250th anniversary.

Comedian Adam Sandler, actor and former professional wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, actor and musician Jared Leto and television host Mario Lopez are among the names that UFC President and CEO Dana White told Timewere invited to the event on Trump's birthday, June 14.

But representatives for the stars, and one person close to Johnson, told Vanity Fair that none of them plan to attend.

It's the latest group of high-profile figures to decline an invite to a Trump-linked event in celebration of America's 250th anniversary.Last month, the administration was dealt a blow when several musicians pulled out of performances at the Great American State Fair after learning the event was sponsored by Freedom 250, a Trump-affiliated group.

The Independent has asked the White House and UFC for comment.

It's unclear which A-listers plan to attend UFC Freedom 250, the cage match taking place on the South Lawn. The administration has erected a ring, seating for roughly 4,500, as well as a large temporary arch dubbed "The Claw."

White told Time that former NFL player Tom Brady, actor Jason Statham and filmmaker Guy Ritchie were also invited to the event. The Independent has contacted their representatives for comment.

While the event is marketed as part of America 250 celebrations, it's also occurring on Trump's birthday – meaning many of the president's friends and allies will be in attendance.

The president has 1,000 tickets to hand out, according to White. He also noted that he and Ari Emanuel, the chief executive of TKO Group Holdings, which owns UFC, only have 200 tickets each to give out. The rest of the tickets are going to members of the military, White told TMZ.

With the help of White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, the president has handpicked allies to attend, according to Vanity Fair.

For those unable to attend the event at the White House, UFC Freedom 250 is setting up a free watch party for tens of thousands of fans on The Ellipse.

Most people, though, are not supportive of the event. A recent YouGov survey found that 51 percent of Americans disapprove of the cage fight as part of the 250th celebrations.

The Trump administration has faced a series of publicity challenges while trying to put on events, particularly those sponsored by Freedom 250, its public-private partnership.

At least six of the nine musical acts set to play the Freedom 250 concert series, between June 25 and July 10, said they would drop out, claiming they did not want to be part of political discourse or were misled about the nonpartisan nature of the event. That includes Bret Michaels, Young MC, the Commodores, Morris Day and the Time, and Martina McBride.

Freedom 250 is separate from America250, a nonprofit created to support a nonpartisan congressional commission that was established years ago.
