What a way to bond with a new co-worker!

Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she and Robert Pattinson, her costar in the new dramedy *Die My Love*, spent their first day of filming in what might have been an awkward experience.

"Our first day on set was a naked scene where we were attacking each other like tigers," Lawrence said during *The Hollywood Reporter*'s Actress Roundtable, which also featured Jessie Buckley (*Hamnet*); Laura Dern (*Is This Thing On?* and *Jay Kelly*); Cynthia Erivo (*Wicked: For Good*); Renate Reinsve (*Sentimental Value*); and Amanda Seyfried (*The Testament of Ann Lee*).

Lawrence said the director of the film, Lynne Ramsay, had sent her and the *Batman* star to interpretive dance lessons ahead of time to help them prepare.

Surprisingly, the *Silver Linings Playbook* star explained that beginning the shoot that way had been a relief.

"It was kind of nice that it was Day One," Lawrence said, "'cause then it wasn't hanging over our heads."

The film, which is out now, costars Sissy Spacek, LaKeith Stanfield, and Nick Nolte.**

And Spacek, for one, was impressed with their love scenes.

"They were brilliant to watch," Spacek told ** of Lawrence and Pattinson last month. "I mean, there was nothing sexier than watching them fight and then make up. It was incredible."

Leonardo DiCaprio is looking back on the time he brought his parents to work and Brad Pitt mistook them for extras.

In a recent interview, DiCaprio recalled inviting his father and stepmother to the set of Quentin Tarantino's period drama *Once Upon a Time in Hollywood*, where they blended right in with the onscreen talent — to the point where Pitt refused to believe they were his costar's folks and not paid actors.

"I remember that moment, we were turning a corner out of Musso & Frank's onto Hollywood Boulevard and I said to Brad, 'That's my dad and that's my stepmom there,'" DiCaprio told *Time* magazine. "And he goes, 'Ha, ha. Yeah, right.'"**

- Eddie Murphy tells EW why he really left the Oscars early after losing for *Dreamgirls* in 2007.

- He insists it had nothing to do with being mad that Alan Arkin beat him, calling the late actor "hysterically funny" in *Little Miss Sunshine.*

- A gesture from Clint Eastwood was the last straw that led Murphy to leave before his costars performed that night.

When Eddie Murphy lost at the 2007 Oscars, headlines accused him of bolting out in anger, but the legendary comedian explains to * *that it wasn't bitterness that led to his early exit, but feeling pity from a Hollywood icon.

The *Saturday Night Live *alum snagged his first Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actor for his role as James "Thunder" Early, a.k.a. Jimmy, in the musical *Dreamgirls, *costarring Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé, and Jennifer Hudson.

Murphy was in a stacked category, up against Alan Arkin for *Little Miss Sunshine,* Jackie Earle Haley for* Little Children, *Djimon Hounsou for *Blood Diamond,* and Mark Wahlberg for *The Departed. *The comedian appeared nervous as Rachel Weisz paid tribute to each nominee before opening the envelope to reveal the winner. Then he politely applauded as Arkin made his way up to the stage.**

Murphy didn't stay to watch Hudson win Best Supporting Actress or to enjoy his costars' performance of the film's three Best Original Song nominees — leading to speculation he was pissed.

"What happened was I was at the Oscars, I had lost, and then people kept coming over to me and kept [patting] me on the shoulder," Murphy tells EW during a discussion about his Netflix documentary *Being Eddie.* "Clint Eastwood came and rubbed my shoulder. And I was like, oh, no, no, I'm not gonna be this guy all night. Let's just leave. I didn't storm out. I was like, I'm not gonna be the sympathy guy all night."**

Murphy insists he knew Arkin had the Oscar in the bag before they were even in competition for it, calling the actor, who died in 2023, "hysterically funny" in his winning role.

"Jeff Katzenberg invited me over to see *Little Miss Sunshine* six months before it came out in the theaters, and I literally watched the movie and I watched Alan — and I hadn't been nominated or anything yet — and I watched the movie and I turned to Jeff afterwards and I said, 'Now that performance right there is one of those performances that will steal somebody's Oscar,'" Murphy recalls. "I said those exact words. I was like, 'He could steal somebody's Oscar,' then he stole mine."

Murphy laughs, then clarifies, "No, I don't feel like he stole mine."

The *Coming to America *star explains that he's come to learn "winning an Oscar is more art than science. It's not like oh, you do this, and you do that, and you win the Oscar. No, it's all this intangible stuff that comes with winning: campaigning and your past stuff and what do they owe you and s---. All of that stuff comes into play when you get Oscars."

He says Arkin had that winning formula. "When you add all of that stuff into it, he totally deserves his Oscar for his whole career. He's an amazing actor."

In *Being Eddie, *Murphy calls losing any award a "mindf---," mostly due to the effort of going to the ceremony for no reason.

"The mindf--- for me is that I get dressed and come to the thing, 'cause I would usually not go to award shows," he says in the career-spanning documentary. "Whenever I lose, I'm like, *These motherf---ers made me come all the way down. I could have f---ing lost at home. I'm all in the f---ing tuxedo. What a waste of time*."

In a way, Murphy actually predicted his Oscars loss decades earlier. While presenting Best Picture at the 1988 Oscars, the *Beverly Hills Cop *star delivered a stirring speech about the Academy's oversight of Black performers.

"I'll probably never win an Oscar for saying this, but hey, what the hey, I gotta say it," he said in his speech, pointing out that only three Black performers had won in the Oscars' 60-year history at the time: Hattie McDaniel, Sidney Poitier, and Louis Gossett Jr.

"I just want you to know I'm gonna give this award, but Black people will not ride the caboose of society, and we will not bring up the rear anymore," his onstage remarks continued. "And I want you to recognize us."**

On the first day of 2026, the actor and comedian continued his hilarious holiday tradition of dressing up for hockey games, this time showing up in full NHL referee gear to watch the Los Angeles Kings face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning. **

In video from the game, Ferrell can be seen taking his fake role very seriously as he taps on the glass, yells encouragement to the real officials, and points at various players.

The* Saturday Night Live* alum, who is a longtime Kings fan, spoke about his unique outfit choice with Kings reporter Carrlyn Bathe during the game.

"I've always been in support of the NHL referees. In fact, I trained two of the guys out here," Ferrell quipped. "They're two my of prize students, Brandon and Frances. They're calling a heck of a game."

He noted that the attire was "all mine," and that he'd be happy to step in as a referee if needed. "I've got it ready to go at a moment's notice," Ferrell declared, "because you never know, if one of these guys go down, I may have to put on the skates and get out there."

Ferrell's costume comes one year after he dressed up as a haggard version of his beloved Yuletide* *character Buddy the Elf (from the movie *Elf*) to watch the Kings battle it out against the Philadelphia Flyers. During that game, Ferrell's sullen Buddy could be seen chugging a beer and smoking a candy cigarette as he sat behind the glass with his family.

Ferrell later explained the inspiration behind the stunt on an episode of Jason and Travis Kelce's* New Heights* podcast. "Buddy the Elf got laid off, I think, from the North Pole," Ferrell joked. "He's having a pull from his beer. He's smoking a cig. That was just — I get these weird ideas every now and then."**

He also expressed his surprise at how much attention the costume received. "The reaction was insane. They were like, 'What is he doing? Is he promoting something?'" Ferrell said. "But occasionally I like to do weird things like that just to stir it up."

GLENDALE, AZ — Mississippi football's Cinderella run has come to an end.

No. 6 Ole Miss was defeated by No. 10 Miami 31-27 in the College Football Playoff semifinals on Thursday after the Rebels were unable to muster another comeback win in the program's first-ever Fiesta Bowl appearance

Yet, as Ole Miss walked off the field at State Farm Stadium while The Scorpions' "Rock You Like a Hurricane" blasted through the speakers and green and orange confetti fell from the sky, the Rebels had a lot to be proud of following their improbable run.

"God has been so good to me and this team. I wouldn't want to do it with any other people, whether it's coaches, players, people in the offices. It's just been a great ride," said Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who completed 23 of 37 passes for 277 yards and one touchdown in the loss. "This team has sacrificed a lot to get to this point and this season's been bumpy. There's been a lot of things going on and they just kept our focus."

Chambliss added, "It's been truly special."

U TURN!: Fiesta Bowl win finally puts Miami back with national elite

It was also unexpected. Before the announcement of the playoff field, the Rebels were left without head coach Lane Kiffin, who left for LSU on Nov. 30. Just last year, Chambliss was playing Division II football at Ferris State. Coaches that followed Kiffin were also splitting time coaching Ole Miss. And despite the circumstances and turmoil, the Rebels turned in the best season in program history with a record 13 wins and first playoff appearance since the system debuted in 2014.

For a moment, it looked like the Rebels were going to replicate the magic that captivated the nation in their Sugar Bowl win over No. 3 Georgia. They took a 27-24 lead with 3:13 remaining following Chambliss' 24-yard touchdown pass to tight end Dae'Quan Wright and a successful two-point conversion from Chambliss to Caleb Odom.

It was up to Ole Miss' defense to secure the win. The Rebels defensive unit was on the field a majority of the night as Miami's offense ran 28 more plays and possessed the ball for more than 41 minutes.

The time on the field collectively wore down the Ole Miss defense. Miami put together a 15-play, 75-yard drive that quarterback Carson Beck capped off with a 3-yard, game-winning touchdown to put the Canes up by four points with 18 seconds remaining.

"We didn't play real well on defense all night, but to be up in the fourth and have an opportunity to close it out on that stage, it is something we'll all look back on and get better from," new head coach Pete Golding said. "But I can't tell you how proud I am of this group. They never panicked. They never flinch."

Mississippi wide receiver De'zhaun Stribling (1) walks off the field with teammate Harrison Wallace III (2) after the team's loss to Miami in the College Football Playoff semifinals at the 2026 Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium.

One important stat told much of the story. Miami was 11-of-19 on third down and 2-of-2 on fourth down, while Ole Miss was 2-of-10 on third down.

"On critical third downs, you got to find way to get off the field. We didn't," said Golding. "But I'm really proud of their effort. We could have done some better things from a coaching staff as well, so it is on all of us."

Yet, Ole Miss still had an opportunity to win late. Trailing by four points, Lucas Carneiro's foot couldn't rescue the Rebels. (Carneiro hit four of five field goals, including a 58-yard field goal, the second-longest ever kicked at the Fiesta Bowl.) Ole Miss would need a touchdown to keep their Cinderella season alive.

Ole Miss got to Miami's 35-yard-line with six seconds remaining following a 23-yard and 17-yard completions. Chambliss attempted a Hail Mary pass to Stribling in the left corner of the end zone, but Stribling went down following some contact with Ethan O'Connor and didn't come away with the ball. No penalty was called and time expired.

"Those situations are tough to call ... but there was contact," Golding said of the non-call. "It happens a lot. That's not why we lost the game. We just had a lot of opportunities late. But I think it shows you the resiliency of the team. I mean they didn't care ... They're going to go out there and give it all they got."

With the win, Miami advanced to the national championship game for the first time since the 2002 season and will face either No. 5 Oregon or No. 1 Indiana. Ole Miss, on the other hand, has uncertainty heading into the next season. It will be Golding's first full season as a head coach. Chambliss is seeking an NCAA waiver for a sixth season of eligibility to return to Ole Miss.

"Hopefully, I get to (play) next year," Chambliss said.

RABAT, Morocco (AP) — Nigeria's preparations for its Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal against Algeria have been dogged by speculation about internal strife involving star striker Victor Osimhen and reports that the players were not being paid their bonuses.

Nigeria coach Éric Chelle would not comment on the reports Friday, when he said such questions need to be directed to the Nigeria Football Federation.

"This is my job, to stay focused — to try to stay focused — to stay focused about only the pitch (field), and definitely my job is on the pitch, not around," Chelle said in Marrakech a day before Nigeria plays Algeria in the city.

The NFF still advertises a vacancy for the position of head coach of the men's team, a year and a day after it appointed Chelle to the position.

Nigerian media outlets reported that the players had threatened not to train or travel to Marrakech for the match unless they were paid agreed bonuses for winning their first four Africa Cup games.

The team arrived in Marrakech on Thursday and had its first training session there the same day. Chelle said they would train again later Friday.

Chelle declined to comment about reports that Osimhen was on the verge of walking out of the team after an on-field argument with teammate Ademola Lookman during the Super Eagles' 4-0 win over Mozambique in the last 16 on Monday.

"I prefer to speak about the (upcoming) game. Victor is there and that's all," Chelle said. "Yes, everyone's speaking about Osimhen and Lookman, it's normal, they're the last two best African players, but we're here to serve them to score, we're working for them. We're a team, and that's what teamwork is all about."

Osimhen scored two goals in that match with Lookman involved in both, but apparently he was furious when Lookman tried scoring instead of setting him up for another.

Lookman played down the argument when asked about it post-game, when he said it was "just football" and called Osimhen his "brother."

Lookman also subsequently posted photos on social media of him celebrating with Osimhen with the caption "together always."
