Israel has today been urged to cease its aerial bombardment of Syria amid fears it could threaten transformation in the country following the overthrow of the Assad regime. Geir Pedersen, the United Nations' special envoy for Syria, described the airstrikes as a 'very troubling development' which 'need to stop' as a war monitor claimed it had recorded more than 300 Israeli strikes since the fall of the president Assad.
