It's now considered 'rude' to bring wine to a dinner party, bring a bottle of olive oil instead
Bringing a bottle of wine to a dinner party is always said to be good etiquette however that is no longer the case, according to a supermarket report. Guests are increasingly likely to bring a bottle of olive oil - or something likely to last more than the evening. This is according to this year's Waitrose Food & Drink Report, which points out that oil, olives, nuts, honey, vinegar and premium salt are among the things guests are swapping in for booze.
