TARGET shoppers have had enough after broken self-checkout systems cause long wait times.

Over the past few years, traditional shopping has been replaced with digital forward systems.

For example, Walmart, Kroger, and even Aldi have been implementing self-checkout lanes for speedier service and customer convenience.

However, not all shoppers appreciate the switch.

Multiple Target shoppers recently blasted the retailer as the self-checkout systems after a few stores were broken.

Closed self-checkouts mixed with understaffing were what led to long lines – 45 minutes in some cases.

Shoppers flooded to X airing out their frustrations.

One customer wrote, "Target really snatched the self-checkout from us lmao feeling like 1600 B.C."

Another revealed the store had 10 customers in many lines with only two cashiers due to closed self-checkout.

"They were a terrible investment but a 45min wait to purchase goods? This is a high-volume store but obviously, you don't want our business," they wrote.

SELF-CHECKOUT SWITCH

Last year, Target added multiple self-checkout lanes to offer convenience for its shoppers and manage long lines.

More recently, the retail giant has been testing out a new policy where shoppers may only have 10 items or less to use self-checkout.

The test quickly became a new policy which was met with outrage by many.

Back in March the express self-checkouts were implemented into nearly 2,000 stores nationwide.

Shoppers have revealed that they have been kicked out of lines because they've had "12 items rather than the 10 items."

However, the retailer revealed that store managers may decide to open more staffed lanes and what the hours should be for the self-checkouts.

CHECKED OUT

Many other retailers have reversed the self-checkout push due to theft, long lines, and more.

Walmart has recently restricted self-checkout available to combat long wait times.

Shoppers have noticed signs in stores reserving some self-checkout lanes for Spark delivery drivers or Walmart+ subscribers.

Walmart+ is its subscription platform offering perks similar to Amazon.

A Spark Driver allows shoppers to place orders online.

Despite trying to create a better shopping experience, shoppers feel it's added more problems. 

Another Target shopper said they are "back to waiting an eternity."

Plus, another new policy at the store set an age limit for who can shop alone.
