Manchin proposes lesser punishment of censure for Trump
Sen. Joe Manchin is floating the less severe punishment of censure of President Donald Trump’s conduct, although the West Virginia Democrat acknowledges it’s unlikely to go anyplace with the GOP.
In a flooring speech on Monday, Manchin stated he remains undecided on whether or not to vote to convict or acquit Trump of abuse of energy and obstruction of Congress and stated “what the president did was fallacious” in soliciting overseas intervention towards Joe Biden and delaying Ukraine help.
However Manchin also stated that with no path to 67 votes for eradicating Trump from workplace, a bipartisan rebuke can be simpler than a partisan vote.
“I do consider a bipartisan majority of this body would vote to censure President Trump for his motion on this matter.
