- Will Forte tells EW he felt "white hot anger" when he learned Warner Bros. had shelved *Coyote vs. Acme* after its completion.

- The actor wonders if the film's chaotic journey to theaters will help its success: "Everything happens for a reason."

- The *SNL *alum is particularly excited for the film because it's "finally something I could share with my kids."

*Coyote vs. Acme* has endured a harrowing journey in the lead-up to its long-delayed theatrical release — and star Will Forte isn't happy about it.

The *Saturday Night Live* alum, who portrays Wile E. Coyote's defense attorney in the live-action/animated hybrid *Looney Tunes* film, candidly reflects on his reaction to the movie initially being scrapped by Warner Bros. during a conversation with **.

"Extreme frustration, fiery frustration, a lot of anger, white hot anger," he says of his immediate response to the movie being shelved. "But then ultimately, that's mixed with pride in this movie we've done. And also, who knows? Everything happens for a reason, and it is certainly possible that the crazy journey that this movie is taking will help get more eyes on it, because it's a story people know about a little bit. But I don't think we needed this crazy journey."

First announced in 2018, *Coyote vs. Acme* filmed in the spring of 2022, and was originally scheduled to hit theaters on July 21, 2023. Warner Bros. moved it from that date to make way for *Barbie*, and in November 2023, the studio shelved *Coyote vs. Acme* — despite it being finished — to claim a $30 million tax write-off, as it had previously done with completed projects like *Batgirl* and *Scoob Holiday Haunt*.

Later that month, EW confirmed that WB reversed course and allowed director Dave Green to shop the film to other studios who were considering buying the project. In February 2024, *TheWrap* reported that WB had rejected offers to buy the film, and *Coyote vs. Acme *seemed doomed once again — until February 2025, when Ketchup Entertainment announced that it had acquired the movie from WB.

Though Forte felt good about the work he'd done on the film, the *MacGruber* star says he initially wondered if *Coyote vs. Acme* was a disaster.

"I remember when I first heard that Warner Bros. was shelving it, I had not yet seen the movie," he says. "I had been talking to people before and hearing about the test scores being really good, and then I was like, 'Oh, maybe it's not as good as they were telling me' when it got shelved."

But the actor knew WB had made a mistake once he viewed the final product. "I got to see it. I love it. I was *so* proud of it," he says. "It was so maddening because it was this beautiful, special little movie that was something I would've been able to share with my kids."

Forte laughs considering what other projects he might be able to show his children. "What have I done that I could share with my kids?" he says. "*MacGruber* and all these dirty little movies. So this was finally something I could share with my kids."

The *Four Seasons* star felt a sense of doom after WB rejected the initial offers from other studios. "For a long time, it looked like it was not gonna come to be," he said. "And then when Ketchup Entertainment came in and saved us, it was so exciting to hear that news. I'm so excited for people to get to see it."

The film will finally hit theaters on Aug. 28, 2026, and Forte is counting down the days. "I can't believe we still have to wait till August," he says. "What's it been, four years? But you know, better late than never. And I thought it was never gonna happen, so I'm so excited for people to see it."

Forte recently teamed up with Teva to headline a campaign raising awareness for Huntington's disease, which his father-in-law passed away from and his brother-in-law, Douglas, was recently diagnosed with. Huntington's is an inherited condition wherein the brain's nerve cells decay over time, which often affects movement, mental health, and cognitive ability.

"It's this brutal disease that a lot of people don't even know about, but a lot of people have it," Forte says. "More people have Huntington's than have ALS, but everybody knows ALS, so that's why we're trying to get the word out about it, to get some support and a bigger community going to support the people who have Huntington's, and to teach the people who don't have it about it."

Anna Camp is apologizing for sharing a *Scream 7* post on social media that hit back at the film's ongoing boycotts in response to the firing of franchise favorite Melissa Barrera.**

The actress, who plays Jessica Bowden in the slasher sequel, reposted an image in support of the film that called out the protests on her Instagram Story over the weekend. Camp later deleted the image and, in a follow-up X post, said that it "does not reflect my personal beliefs" on the subject. **

"It has come to my attention that I reposted someone else's story that does not reflect my personal beliefs," Camp wrote. "I have since deleted the repost because I absolutely meant no harm. I'm sorry to anyone who was affected."

The post, which was originally shared by the *SCREAM with Ryan C. Showers* podcast, read: "The boycott didn't work. The critics hate didn't work. The pathetic leaks didn't work. What worked was audiences coming out and making the film a success." **

Camp's repost comes after pro-Palestine protesters held a demonstration outside the *Scream 7* premiere in Los Angeles last week in response to Barrera being fired from the franchise in 2023 over social media posts that supported the Palestinian cause and criticized Israel's actions amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

The protest — which was organized by Entertainment Labor for Palestine, CODEPINK LA, and Jewish Voice for Peace-Los Angeles — was held to call attention "to the industry's widespread silencing of pro-Palestinian voices and its whitewashing of Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza."

Despite the ongoing boycotts,* Scream 7 *had a killer opening weekend, setting a new franchise record by raking in more than $97 million at the global box office. Speaking with **, Gooding acknowledged that he had to take "my time to grieve" the work he'd done in *Scream 5* and *6* while also "trying to find a way to relate to the work that had been done" in the latest installment.

"[It] meant making sure, certainly privately and also professionally, that the understanding of family and collaboration was still present and intact and respected so that whatever the franchise became afterwards, whether or not I was involved, was hopefully done in a way that… The creatives behind it, in this case Kevin and Neve, finding a way to create their collaborative effort after taking so long away from it, getting their recompense, and having the return of their influence on the franchise, hopefully, is just done in a way that you can support *that* and be respectful to *that*," he said at the time.

*Scream 7* is in theaters now.

You've heard of a prequel. Thanks to *Scream*, you've heard of a requel. You may even have heard of a paraquel. Now, let Marlon Wayans introduce you to the rebooquel.

The famed funnyman is ready to reveal the first trailer for *Scary Movie 6*, his grand return to the horror comedy franchise he kickstarted with brothers Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans over 25 years ago. In a conversation with * *ahead of the first look at the Wayans' long-awaited return to *Scary Movie*, which also marks a reunion with beloved series stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall, Marlon says that *Scary Movie 6 *is more than just "a complete reboot, starting back where we began the franchise in 2000." In a word, it's "a rebooquel."

And that's not all. "This movie is multi-generational. It's a conversation comedically that is needed, that needs to be had from our generation down to Gen, what is it?" Marlon thinks aloud. "Gen Alpha. And it's all inclusive."

The first few seconds of the trailer for *Scary Movie 6, *directed by Michael Tiddes, tease a host of new targets from the past two decades of horror history for Marlon and his brothers, who co-wrote the film, to skewer. The titular slasher from last year's *Heart Eyes *and the gruesome glambot M3GAN menace the passengers of a New York City subway, recalling the *Scream *franchise's move from the suburbs to the big city with *Scream 6.***

Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson's meta-slasher was the *Scary Movie *franchise's original lodestar, and it returns in the sixth installment, when a dancing M3GAN tears away its costume to reveal it's actually Ghostface, brandishing a glinting buck knife. As the specter guts the trailer's first casualty, *Scary Movie 6 *announces its tone. "Oh my God, he stabbed her!" a woman cries. "I'm not her! My pronouns are they/them," the victim cries back. "He stabbed them!"

Marlon himself, back in character as the lovable pothead Shorty Meeks, then makes it official in the next scene, declaring directly to the camera, "We back!"

"What we're trying to do is bring back laughter," Marlon tells EW. "This is about bringing back comedy the way it used to be. And I think the only way to do it is you have to cancel the cancel culture."

The trailer doubles down on that goal, putting viewers on notice with a sequence of intertitles that spell out, "There are no safe spaces." Faris' Cindy Campbell performs lewd acts on Ghostface with a pair of dildos, one of the running children from a *Weapons *spoof gets knocked into space by a car, and a young girl opens a "present" from a parody of *Terrifier*'s big bad, Art the Clown. It's a severed pair of testicles, which she drops with a precocious, "What the f---?"

Regina Hall plays Brenda and Shawn Wayans plays Ray in Scary Movie from Paramount Pictures.

Regina Hall and Shawn Wayans in 'Scary Movie'.

Quantrell Colbert

Marlon explains it simply: *Scary Movie 6 *is a return to the franchise's fundamentals. "We're gonna do what we always do. We're gonna make fun of everybody because we're equal opportunity offenders," he says. "We have a recipe, we have a formula that you can't mimic or copy. You could try, but it's very specific. It's how we grew up, and it's how we see the world. It's the household we were raised in with the sense of humor that we all were governed with, that we inherited from our mother."

"We like to be fearless," he continues. "Yet still do things with kid gloves to let people laugh at themselves."

Regina Hall and Anna Faris are bringing Brenda and Cindy back for the new 'Scary Movie' revival

*Scary Movie 6*'s equal-opportunity offense is clear from the trailer. Safe spaces and pronouns aren't the only butts of the joke. When Cindy and Hall's Brenda Meeks finally reunite, a disheveled, later-years Laurie Strode-looking Cindy tells her former bff, whose blob-like wig and cozy cardigan make her a dead ringer for Octavia Spencer's *Ma*, that they probably shouldn't hug.

Cheri Oteri plays Gale and Dave Sheridan plays Doofy in Scary Movie from Paramount Pictures.

Quantrell Colbert

"I'm a Republican now, so I'm supposed to be racist," Cindy explains. But Brenda's nonplussed. "Oh, girl, I think all white people are racist anyway. Come here!" The last of the core four, Shawn Wayans, who played the closeted jock Ray Wilkins in *Scary Movie *and its sequel, finally pops up in Brenda's house after a group of teens tells her they've arrived to "do some half-gay s---." Ray slides into frame at Brenda's side to question them: "Why half?"

"We laughed all the way through," Marlon reflects on the making of the film. "We let everyone have fun, we let them improvise, and you're gonna see it all over this movie. All of these references." And there are a ton, from *Sinners *and *Longlegs *to *Get Out *and *Smile*.

Olivia Rose Keegan plays Sara, Cameron Scott Roberts plays Jack and Savannah Lee Nassif plays Tuesday in Scary Movie from Paramount Pictures.

Olivia Rose Keegan as Sara, Cameron Scott Roberts as Jack, and Savannah Lee Nassif as Tuesday in 'Scary Movie'.

Quantrell Colbert

Marlon and his brothers' last hurrah with the franchise was 2001's *Scary Movie 2*. Though both the sequel and its predecessor were box office sensations, grossing many times over the modest budgets they were made on, the Wayans' parted ways ahead of the greenlit third installment over disagreements with the series' executive producer, Dimension Films founder Bob Weinstein.

He cites three reasons for returning to the franchise after 25 years: the "dismantling of the Weinstein regime;" the encouragement of his father, Howell Stouten Wayans, who "wanted me and my brothers to work together again;" and "God," who told him, "This is what you should be doing."

Anna Faris plays Cindy and Regina Hall plays Brenda in Scary Movie from Paramount Pictures.

Anna Faris as Cindy and Regina Hall as Brenda in 'Scary Movie'.

Quantrell Colbert

"I got me and my brothers together to come back to a franchise that we were removed from," he says. "I think the assignment is to bring back the cast, bring back me and my brothers working together, and to bring back big-ass laughs. The world needs a big-ass laugh."

*Scary Movie 6 *arrives in theaters June 5th.

DENVER (AP) — OG Anunoby scored 34 points to power the New York Knicks to a 142-103 win over the Denver Nuggets, who lost All-Star point guard Jamal Murray to a sprained ankle Friday night just when their starting lineup was back together.

Josh Hart added 18 points and Karl-Anthony Towns had 19 points and 17 rebounds as the Knicks kicked off a five-game trip in resounding fashion, their starters taking the fourth quarter off to enjoy the rare rout.

The 39-point home loss tied the Nuggets' record set against Chicago in 1998.

Nikola Jokic led Denver with 38 points but the Nuggets suffered their biggest loss of the season — both on the scoreboard and on the court with Murray's injury.

Aaron Gordon (hamstring) played for the first time since Jan. 23 and Cam Johnson returned from a sprained ankle, giving the Nuggets their original starting lineup for the first time since Nov. 12.

It was short-lived.

Although Gordon quickly gave the crowd something to cheer about when he followed his errant 3-pointer with a rim-rattling dunk as part of Denver's 13-4 start, the Nuggets would miss 17 consecutive 3-pointers before Jokic hit one with his team trailing 92-70 on its way to a 105-80 deficit after three quarters.

And that was Gordon's only basket as he went 1 for 7 in 21 minutes.

And the Nuggets lost their All-Star point guard before halftime.

Murray, who had 45- and 28-point performances earlier this week, had 12 points when he got hurt with 1:05 left in the first half. He took the contact from a driving Anunoby and stepped back on Jokic's right foot. Murray tumbled to the floor in pain, grabbing his left ankle. He was helped to the locker room by teammate Jonas Valanciunas, and didn't return.

During the stoppage, Knicks coach Mike Brown challenged the call on the court of an Anunoby charge. The challenge was successful, so Murray was assessed the blocking foul and Anunoby sank both free throws, giving the Knicks a 65-42 halftime lead.

Murray was an All-Star this season for the first time in his nine-year career.

BOSTON (AP) — Jaylen Brown had 24 points, seven rebounds and seven assists and the Boston Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks 120-100 on Friday night in Jayson Tatum's first game in almost 10 months after rupturing his right Achilles tendon.

Tatum had 15 points on 6-of-16 shooting, 12 rebounds and seven assists in a rust-filled 27 minutes. He played in five- and six-minute spurts in his first game since suffering the injury in during Game 4 of Boston's Eastern Conference semifinal loss to New York in May.

Derrick White added 20 points to help Boston win for the fourth time in five games. Dallas has lost six straight.

No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg, a Maine native playing his first game in TD Garden, had 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Dallas. Klay Thompson finished with 19 points, and Naji Marshall had13 points.

Tatum missed his first six shots, including three 3-pointers. But he continued to look for his teammates and actively screening to initiate the offense.

The Celtics have 19 games remaining in the regular season, including 11 at TD Garden to try to ramp up Tatum for the playoffs.

NHL trade deadline winners, losers: Avalanche go all in with Nazem Kadri deal

Nazem Kadri won a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche in 2022 and wasn't re-signed, starting the team's search for a No. 2 center.

They finally found one at the 2025 NHL trade deadline with Brock Nelson. But now they also have found a Kadri-style player.

Nazem Kadri.

The Avalanche and Calgary Flames worked out a deal to bring back Kadri, giving up only Victor Olofsson off their roster, plus draft picks and an unsigned draft pick. Colorado now has enviable center depth and can trot out Nathan MacKinnon, Nelson, Kadri and fellow 2026 trade deadline acquisition Nicolas Roy.

Here are the winners and losers of the 2026 NHL trade deadline:

1 / 0NHL trade tracker: Who changed teams in 2025-26Feb. 24: The Pittsburgh Penguins acquire defenseman Samuel Girard and a 2028 second-round pick for defenseman Brett Kulak.WINNERSNick Foligno joins brother

Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin, who made the big move for Quinn Hughes earlier in the season, was busy during deadline week. He added penalty killing forward Michael McCarron and winger Bobby Brink, plus depth defenseman Jeff Petry. But his acquisition of Nick Foligno had an added benefit for the former Blackhawks captain. He'll get to play alongside his brother Marcus for the first time in their professional careers.

Sabres go all-in

The Sabres have been on a roll since Jarmo Kekalainen replaced fired Kevyn Adams as general manager. And the GM took steps to try to help the team end a record 14-season playoff drought. An attempted trade for Colton Parayko didn't materialize when the defenseman declined to waive his no-trade clause. Kekalainen responded with a trade for the Jets' Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn, giving Buffalo a rugged third defensive pairing behind an impressive top four that includes Rasmus Dahlin. Sam Carrick was added to improve the team's league-worst faceoff winning percentage, and depth forward Tanner Pearson also joined. Schenn and Pearson have won Stanley Cup titles, important if the Sabres make a rare foray into the postseason.

Panthers hang on to free agents

The Panthers' run of back-to-back championships (and three trips to the Final) is heading toward an end because of a string of injuries that include captain Aleksander Barkov tearing his ACL on the first day of fall practice. GM Bill Zito traded pending free agent Petry but held on to free agents Sergei Bobrovsky and A.J. Greer and will try to re-sign them. The Panthers' core, when healthy, is still championship caliber. If they can't overcome their deficit, they can heal up and try again next season.

They took it hard when Nic Dowd was dealt to the Golden Knights after being in Washington since 2018-19. Then they woke up Friday morning to find out that 17-year veteran John Carlson was heading to Anaheim after a late-night trade.

"Today sucks, it's brutal," forward Tom Wilson told reporters. "I'm sure there are some guys that want to cry. That's the reality of it. Today you can cry and tomorrow you got to wake up and be a big boy and go out and play hockey."

Awkward position for Colton Parayko

Parayko had every right to veto a trade to Buffalo. That's why agents negotiate no-trade clauses with teams. But the fact that news of the trade leaked made things awkward for the defenseman as he took the time to make a decision on his future.

"We did some due diligence as soon as that happened," general manager Doug Armstrong told reporters, according to the Post-Dispatch. "We checked the phone records of all of our staff, texts and emails, and everybody passed the test, not surprisingly. I was disappointed it got out. I know it didn't come from us."

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs gave up a first-round pick and a prospect last season to land Scott Laughton and two mid-round picks from the Flyers. Leafs general manager Brad Treliving traded the pending free agent to the Kings on Friday and received a conditional third-round pick. It can become a second-rounder if Los Angeles makes the playoffs.

New CBA rules

The new collective bargaining agreement included a playoff salary cap and rules making it harder for teams to use a second team to retain some salary in a trade. The result: Deadline day was fairly dull until the Kadri trade surfaced.
